TL;DR: A new approach for interpolating curves (contour morphing) in time, which is a process of gradually changing a source curve through intermediate curves into a target curve, and establishes a relationship between curve interpolation and a two dimensional function.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a new approach for interpolating curves (contour morphing) in time, which is a process of gradually changing a source curve (known) through intermediate curves (unknown) into a target curve (known). The novelty of our approach is in the deployment of a new regularization term and the corresponding Euler equation. Our method is applicable to implicit curve representation and it establishes a relationship between curve interpolation and a two dimensional function. This is achieved by minimizing the supremum of the gradient, which leads to the infinite Laplacian equation (ILE). ILE is optimal in the sense that interpolated curves are equally distributed along their normal direction. We point out that the existing distance field manipulation (DFM) methods are only an approximation to the proposed optimal solution and that the relationship between ILE and DFM is not local as it has been asserted before. The proposed interpolation can also be used to construct multiscale curve representation.

TL;DR: In this paper, an image picked up from two cameras is digitized by an A/D converter, and the individual partial image of an analytic object is inputted to a collation means corresponding to each distance range to which it is expected to belong.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce overhead and erroneous collation in image collation and distance calculation processing. SOLUTION: An image picked up from two cameras is digitized by an A/D converter. Next, the individual partial image of an analytic object is inputted to a collation means corresponding to each distance range to which it is expected to belong. Each collation means varies the resolution of an input image to collate a distance by spatial resolution necessary and sufficient to each distance range. Namely, each collation means converts the input image to an image of 2-n (n=0, 1, 2, 3) resolution in accordance with each corresponding distance range. As a resolution converting method, a method using the average of four adjacent pixels for halving the resolution is used. By constituting the distance distribution detector like this, data for post processing can be reduced and an arithmetic quantity can be reduced. Since collation is executed by spatial resolution corresponding to a distance, erroneous collation can also be reduced by this.

TL;DR: In this article, a projector includes an image taking part that takes an image of an area that includes a target onto which an image is projected, a distance measuring part that calculates, from taken image data obtained by the image-taking part, distance data concerning a distance between the target and the image, and a plane estimation part that estimates, from the distance data, a plane corresponding to the target; a focusing adjustment part that adjusts focusing of the image to be projected, based on information concerning the plane.

TL;DR: In this paper, an on-road object recognizing device for vehicle to accurately recognize an object on a road ahead of its own vehicle by comparing the reference distance corresponding to a range which is decided at every line range and distance to an object detected by means of a distance measuring means.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable an on-road object recognizing device for vehicle to accurately recognize an object on a road ahead of its own vehicle by comparing the reference distance corresponding to a range which is decided at every line range and distance to an object detected by means of a distance measuring means. CONSTITUTION: Picture information from a stereo camera 2 is fetched to the forward distance measurement controller 3 of an object recognizing means 5. A distance measuring means 7 which measures the distance between the object, the picture of which is taken with the camera 2, and its own vehicle is connected to the controller 3. In addition, a range-corresponding object data eliminating means 8 compares range cutting distances (range-corresponding reference distances) which are decided at every window line (range) of the picture information and the distance to the object detected by the measuring means 7 and, when the distance to the object is longer than the reference distance, eliminates the object from object data. When the distance to the object is longer than the reference distance, the measuring means 7 recognizes the object as an object to be recognized. COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image classification device, and an image classification method and a program, capable of classifying image information corresponding to an occurrence recognized as an event by a user such that the image information is more properly correlated to one group. SOLUTION: This image classification device has; an image information input part input with the image information including position information about a place wherein an image is photographed; a reference distance calculation part 3 for calculating a reference distance to the place wherein the image is photographed, from a prescribed place that is reference, by use of the position information; and an image information classification part 5 for classifying the image on the basis of the reference distance.
