TL;DR: The theoretical results are compared in detail with experimental results and the agreement between theory and experiment is superior to that found for any other simple models of the coordination of cell growth and division.

TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus, system and method for storage space recovery in solid-state storage 110 is described, where the data packets are sequentially stored by order of processing.
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method are disclosed for storage space recovery in solid-state storage 110. A sequential storage module 802 sequentially writes data packets in a storage division. The storage division includes a portion of a solid-state storage 110. The data packets are derived from an object. The data packets are sequentially stored by order of processing. A storage division.selection module 804 selects a storage division for recovery. A data recovery module 806 reads valid data packets from the storage division selected for recovery, queues the valid data packets with other data packets to be written sequentially, and updates an index with a new physical address of the valid data. The index includes a mapping of physical addresses of data packets to object identifiers. A storage division recovery module 808 marks the storage division selected for recovery as available for sequentially written data packets in response to completing copying valid data from the storage division.

TL;DR: This work empirically derive and demonstrate the critical mass for most effective foraging in the authors' domain, and shows the decline of performance of the space division strategy with increased group size.
Abstract: This work demonstrates the application of the behavior-based approach to generating ethologically-inspired adaptive foraging using a division of labor into exclusive spatial territories. First, we use fixed group sizes to evaluate and compare the performance of the two types of adaptive solutions. Second, using a collection of experimental robot data, we empirically derive and demonstrate the critical mass for most effective foraging in our domain, and show the decline of performance of the space division strategy with increased group size.

TL;DR: In this article, a clock synchronized time division switches are connected respectively to the input signal lines, bus highways, and the output signal lines in a multihop system, and each one is controlled by its own storage of selected addresses in time slot order.
Abstract: Ports including at least input and output signal lines are collected into port groups. For each port group three separate clock synchronized time division switches are connected respectively to the input signal lines, bus highways and the output signal lines. All time division switches of the system are synchronized by a system clock and each one is controlled by its own storage of selected addresses in time slot order. A plurality of bus highways is provided and the input time division switch connects signals to a specific bus highway of the system. A second time division switch selects the bus highway for connection to the output section of the port group. A third time division switch selects the output port to which the selected bus highway is connected. In one embodiment the bus highways directly connect the port groups. In another, a central inter-connect matrix is provided to make the connection between the first and second time division switches.
