TL;DR: The paper concludes with the expectation that SDR will make a positive impact on the process of engineering document management from document construction to its delivery in the future, and undoubtedly provide better information retrieval performance in terms of both precision and functionality.

TL;DR: Rec retrieval based on phoneme n -grams is not as effective as word-based retrieval, but is sufficient for situations in which word- based retrieval is either impractical or undesirable.

TL;DR: This paper focuses on content based image retrieval from large medical databases, and outlines the problems specific to this area, and presents some of the more significant results obtained with ASSERT (Automatic Search and Selection Engine with Retrieval Tools), the contentbased image retrieval system developed in the laboratory.
Abstract: The main goal of content based image retrieval is to efficiently retrieve images that are visually similar to a query image. In this paper we focus on content based image retrieval from large medical databases, outline the problems specific to this area, and describe the recent advances in the field. We also present some of the more significant results obtained with ASSERT (Automatic Search and Selection Engine with Retrieval Tools), the content based image retrieval system developed in our laboratory.

TL;DR: Two different approaches to the concept-based indexing of hypermedia information are examined which were developed during the Active LibraryTM on Corrosion project: term indexing with three-dimensional index navigation and semantic hyperindexing with broad-button link navigation.
Abstract: The key to unlocking the information retrieval potential of hypertext and hypermedia systems lies in a more semantics-aware indexing of the information in the hypernetwork, and in the effective visualization and navigation of this hypermedia index structure. We briefly highlight the information retrieval issues specific to hypertext and hypermedia systems, and discuss our concept-based information retrieval model for hypertext. We then examine in detail two different approaches to the concept-based indexing of hypermedia information which we developed during the Active LibraryTM on Corrosion project: term indexing with three-dimensional index navigation and semantic hyperindexing with broad-button link navigation. Finally, we discuss how a conceptbased indexing technique could represent a significant step towards a more intelligent retrieval of hypermedia information.

TL;DR: In this article, a document retrieval system is disclosed that improves a database system's response time so that a user's request to view new information is serviced quickly, while other information that the user is likely to read or study later is preloaded into memory.
Abstract: A document retrieval system is disclosed that improves a database system's response time so that a user's request to view new information is serviced quickly. During the time the user spends viewing the displayed information, other information that the user is likely to read or study later is preloaded into memory. If the user does later request this information, this information can be written to the display very quickly because the information need not be retrieved from the database. The present invention takes advantage of the fact that it is possible to accurately predict the information that the user will eventually request. Adaptive prediction schemes can be employed as an aid in determining what information the user will request.
