TL;DR: It is suggested that the DPPH free radical abstracts the phenolic hydrogen of the flavonoid molecule and that this could be the general mechanism of the scavenging action of the antiperoxidative flavonoids.

Abstract: Palladium (II) reacts with DPPH in slightly acid medium to form a red colored complex stable in presence of EDTA and extractable into chloroform. These properties of the Pd(II)-DPPH complex were used for the selective extractive spectrophotometric determination of palladium(II) in presence of several tested cations.
