29 Mar 1991TL;DR: In this paper, a method of shortening the braking distance in critical driving situations uses the criterion of exceeding of a first threshold value by the actuating speed of the brake pedal (vBP) by the vehicle driver for initiating an automatic braking operation.
Abstract: A method of shortening the braking distance in critical driving situations uses the criterion of exceeding of a first threshold value by the actuating speed of the brake pedal (vBP) by the vehicle driver for initiating an automatic braking operation. A brake pressure (pB,max) which corresponds to the value of the brake pressure with optimum deceleration of the vehicle is built up automatically immediately after initiation of the automatic braking operation.

25 Aug 1987TL;DR: In this article, an apparatus which measures and regulates the braking torque of a brake unit in long-term operational use is presented, where the brake unit includes both a brakable element and the braking device.
Abstract: An apparatus which measures and regulates the braking torque of a brake unit in long-term operational use. The brake unit includes both a brakable element and the braking device. An output signal from at least one temperature-dependent measuring element, located on or in one of the brakable elements and the braking device, is supplied to an evaluation apparatus. The evaluation apparatus determines, from the current value of the output signal of the temperature-measuring element, a present braking torque, and adjusts such torque when desirable.

09 Oct 2013TL;DR: In this paper, instructions are provided to a vehicle braking mechanism for autonomous operation of the braking mechanism, and at least one first parameter is retrieved for governing control of braking mechanism at each time step.
Abstract: Instructions are provided to a vehicle braking mechanism for autonomous operation of the braking mechanism. At least one first parameter is retrieved for governing control of the braking mechanism. The first parameter is applied to operation of the braking mechanism. Data is collected relating to operation of the vehicle. At least one second parameter is determined for governing control of the braking mechanism.

01 Sep 2015TL;DR: In this paper, an electric powertrain is used to provide regenerative braking with respect to the system dynamics during regenerative decelerations, which is very different from conventional friction braking.
Abstract: Regenerative braking provided by an electric powertrain is very different from conventional friction braking with respect to the system dynamics. During regenerative decelerations, the powertrain b...

TL;DR: In this article, a vehicle brake control system has a braking detector and a braking controller, which determines whether a braking operation in a vehicle is within an initial braking stage based on a control condition of a frictional braking system.
Abstract: A vehicle brake control system has a braking detector and a braking controller. The braking detector determines whether a braking operation in a vehicle is within an initial braking stage based on a control condition of a frictional braking system. The braking controller performs initial braking stage control during the initial braking stage by controlling a regenerative braking system to provide a limited braking torque and the frictional braking system to provide a supplemental braking torque, the combination of which provides a target braking torque. The braking controller performs subsequent braking control when the initial braking stage ends to provide an increased regenerative braking torque and a lower supplemental braking torque as the target braking torque.
