TL;DR: In this article, a method and apparatus provide edge enhancements as part of a demosaicing process in which an image is captured, and the edge enhancement process accesses unaltered spatial and chromatic information contained in the raw captured image data.
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide edge enhancements as part of a demosaicing process in which an image is captured. By providing edge enhancements as part of the demosaicing process, the edge enhancement process has access to unaltered spatial and chromatic information contained in the raw captured image data.

TL;DR: A plurality of bandpass filters extract high frequency components of a digital image signal sampled every predetermined unit, thus generating a plurality of high frequency signals as discussed by the authors, which are added to produce a resultant high frequency signal.
Abstract: A plurality of bandpass filters extract high frequency components of a digital image signal sampled every predetermined unit, thus generating a plurality of high frequency signals. The high frequency signals are added to produce a resultant high frequency signal. On the basis of the value of the resultant high frequency signal, the maximum value or minimum value detected from the high frequency signals is selected. The resultant high frequency signal and the selected maximum or minimum value are added according to determined weights, so that an enhancement signal is generated. Edge enhancement is performed using the enhancement signal.

TL;DR: The differences among these LI mathematics models and their arguments are discussed on the aspects of running speed and edge enhancement by computer simulation.
Abstract: Lateral Inhibition (LI) networks has been used in engineering broadly. When used in image contrast enhancement, the followings should be taken into consideration to get the optimal outcoming: LI model, distribution of inhibition intensity and size of inhibition fields. According to the classification rules of LI mathematics models, a new model is presented based on those that have been founded on physiological experiments, and double-peak Gauss curve is selected as a distribution of inhibition intensity. The differences among these mathematics models and their arguments are discussed on the aspects of running speed and edge enhancement by computer simulation.

TL;DR: A very- high-resolution image digitizing system that handles both still and motion images is presented, which can generate test sequences for super-high-definition images that have at least 2048*2048 pixels.
Abstract: A very-high-resolution image digitizing system that handles both still and motion images is presented. The system mainly consists of a high-resolution CCD line scanner and high-precision film transport equipment. Resolution characteristics are measured directly using test charts, and resolution of over 2048 pixels is obtained in both the vertical and horizontal direction. Therefore, this system can generate test sequences for super-high-definition images that have at least 2048*2048 pixels. Various corrections, such as shading-, gamma-, and color-correction and edge enhancement, are made, and good reproductions of original photo images are obtained. Sixteen standard images are digitized and prepared for coding simulations and other applications. >

TL;DR: In this article, the amplitude spectra of fractional-order-derivative filters were combined with ad hoc phase spectra to improve the accuracy of edge enhancement and detection.
Abstract: Edge enhancement and detection techniques are fundamental operations in magnetic data interpretation. Many techniques for edge enhancement have been developed, some based on profile data and others designed for grid-based data sets. Methods that are traditionally applied to magnetic data, such as total horizontal derivative (THD) and analytic signal (AS), require the computation of integer-order horizontal and vertical derivatives of the magnetic data. However, if the data set contains features with a large variation in amplitude, then the features with small amplitudes may be difficult to outline. In addition, because most edge enhancement and detection filters are derivative-based filters, they also amplify high-frequency noise content in the data. As a result, the accuracy of derivative-based filters is restricted to data of high quality. We suggested the modification of the THD and AS filters by combining the amplitude spectra of fractional-order-derivative filters with ad hoc phase spectra, p...
