Abstract: An aircraft mounted gas turbine engine system comprises a three shaft propulsive gas turbine engine having three electrical generators; each one respectively associated with one shaft of the engine. Two of the electrical generators are additionally configured so as to function as electric motors so as to facilitate power transfer between the engine shafts. One of the electric generators provides the primary source of electrical power for the aircraft, while the remaining electrical generators provide electrical power for the engine and back-up power for the aircraft.

Abstract: The price of electricity is extremely volatile, because electric power cannot be economically stored, end user demand is largely weather dependent, and the reliability of the grid is paramount. However, underlying the process of price returns is a strong mean-reverting mechanism. We study this feature of electricity returns by means of Hurst R=S analysis. c 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Abstract: During the last years, two new subjects among the others have risen interest in the field of small scale electric power generation: advanced microturbines and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells.This paper investigates the thermodynamic potential of the integration of the Solid Oxide Fuel Cell technology with microturbine systems, in order to obtain ultra-high efficiency small capacity plants, generating electric power in the range of 250 kW with 65% LHV net electrical efficiency and with the possibility of cogenerating heat. A detailed description of the calculation model is presented, capable of full and part-load performances analysis of the microturbine and of the integrated SOFC+microturbine system.Copyright © 1999 by ASME

Abstract: Optical fiber-based distributed communications systems that provide and support both radio frequency (RF) communication services and digital data services are disclosed herein. The RF communication services and digital data services can be distributed over optical fiber and electrical power lines to client devices, such as remote antenna units for example. The digital data services can be distributed by using an electrical power line, where the electrical power line also provides power to remote antenna units and to digital data service components. The electrical digital data service signals that provide the digital data services are converted to electrical power signals that may be carried over the electrical power line.
