31 Jul 2008TL;DR: In this article, power conversion apparatus and methods for providing electrical power to a grid or other load in which a synchronous machine is driven by a wind turbine or other prime mover to provide generator power to switching type current source converter (CSC), with a current source rectifier (CSR) of the CSC being switched to provide d-axis control of the synchronous machines current based on grid power factor feedback.
Abstract: Power conversion apparatus and methods are presented for providing electrical power to a grid or other load in which a synchronous machine is driven by a wind turbine or other prime mover to provide generator power to a switching type current source converter (CSC), with a current source rectifier (CSR) of the CSC being switched to provide d-axis control of the synchronous machine current based on grid power factor feedback, and with a current source inverter (CSI) of the CSC being switched to provide leading firing angle control and selective employment of dumping resists to dissipate excess generator energy in a fault mode when a grid voltage drops below a predetermined level.

01 Jul 2020TL;DR: The MORE-G is characterized by addressing one of the real problems, saving on material costs, reducing the need for manpower and reducing dependence on other countries in importing electric power) and upgrading the scope of the ministry of electricity.
Abstract: Renewable energy becomes one of the main resources that help the world to safety the environment from pollution and provide the people of new type of energy; therefore, this paper presents model called multi-objectives renewable energy-generation (MORE-G) for generating electrical energy from the wind. In general, this model consists of five basic phases: in a first phase collecting and preparing the data, so to make it in format suitable for the decision-making stage, this phase split into multi-steps (i.e., handle missing values and normalization dataset), and the second phase focuses on building constraints for each dataset and develops one of the optimization algorithms called cuckoo based on horizontal combination and multi-objective optimization used in third phase to generate the energy. Another model is developed as multi-layer neural network called (DCapsNet) based on linear combination and multi-objective functions used in the fourth phase to generate the energy. Final phase is related to evaluation of both models (DCOM and DCapsNet) to determine the best. The MORE-G is characterized by addressing one of the real problems, saving on material costs (i.e., reducing the need for manpower and reducing dependence on other countries in importing electric power) and upgrading the scope of the ministry of electricity.

21 Jan 1994TL;DR: In this article, an electric power starter/generator, for converting electrical energy from a remote dc electrical power source to mechanical energy to start a turbine engine in the start mode, and for converting mechanical energy from the turbine engine to electrical energy to power utilization equipment in the generate mode, comprises a shaft for transferring rotational mechanical energy between the electric generator and the turbine, a permanent magnet synchronous machine having a rotor driveable coupled to the shaft and a stator.
Abstract: An electric power starter/generator, for converting electrical energy from a remote dc electrical power source to mechanical energy to start a turbine engine in the start mode, and for converting mechanical energy from the turbine engine to electrical energy to power utilization equipment in the generate mode, comprises a shaft for transferring rotational mechanical energy between the electric power starter/generator and the turbine engine, a permanent magnet synchronous machine having a rotor driveably coupled to the shaft and a stator. The permanent magnet synchronous machine produces polyphase ac electric power when driven as a generator, and rotational mechanical energy when driven as a motor. A bidirectional ac-dc power converter having a dc and an ac input/output produces variable frequency polyphase ac excitation from the dc electrical energy at the dc input/output to drive the permanent magnet synchronous machine as a brushless dc motor to generate rotational mechanical energy to start the turbine engine during the start mode. The power converter alternately produces dc electrical energy from the polyphase ac electrical energy generated by the permanent magnet synchronous machine when driven by the turbine engine during the generate mode.
