TL;DR: A power distribution monitoring system includes a number of power line mounted monitors as mentioned in this paper, each monitor can acquire data regarding the delivery of electrical power in the power line, wirelessly transmit and receive messages, and electromagnetically acquire and store operating electrical power from electrical current flowing in a power line.
Abstract: A power distribution monitoring system includes a number of power line mounted monitors. Each monitor can acquire data regarding the delivery of electrical power in the power line, wirelessly transmit and receive messages, and electromagnetically acquire and store operating electrical power from electrical current flowing in the power line. The system also includes an aggregator that can wirelessly transmit and receive messages and wirelessly output beacon messages. In response to beacon signals wirelessly output by the aggregator, each monitor co-acts with the aggregator to dynamically build a wireless communication network for the wireless communication of the data acquired by the monitor regarding the delivery of electrical power in the power line to the aggregator.

TL;DR: In this article, a power supply unit is equipped with an alternating-current power supply voltage, and an LED lamp is constructed by one or a plurality of serially connected LEDs connected to output terminals of the power supply units.
Abstract: An LED lamp device of the invention includes a power supply unit ( 102, 103 ) supplied with an alternating-current power supply voltage, and an LED lamp ( 106 ) constituted by one or a plurality of serially connected LEDs connected to output terminals of the power supply unit ( 102, 103 ). The power supply unit ( 102 ) obtains a rectified wave of the alternating-current power supply voltage, admits electric power for only part of a time period in which the voltage of the rectified wave corresponding to each half period of the wave of the alternating-current power supply voltage is higher than or equal to a predetermined value, and uses the electric power as power for lighting the LED lamp ( 106 ).

TL;DR: More efficient home energy management system to reduce power consumption in home area and provides easy way to add, delete, and move home devices to other power outlets is described.
Abstract: This paper describes more efficient home energy management system to reduce power consumption in home area. We consider the room easily controllable with an IR remote control of a home device. The room has automatic standby power cut-off outlets, a light, and a ZigBee hub. The ZigBee hub has an IR code learning function and educates the IR remote control signal of a home device connected to the power outlet. Then the power outlets and the light in the room can be controlled with an IR remote control. A typical automatic standby power cut-off outlet has a waiting time before cutting off the electric power. It consumes standby power during that time. To eliminate the waiting time, we turn off the home device and the power outlet simultaneously with an IR remote control through the ZigBee hub. This method actively reduces the standby power. The proposed HEMS provides easy way to add, delete, and move home devices to other power outlets. When a home device is moved to the different outlet, the energy information of the home device is kept consistently and seamlessly regardless of location change. The proposed architecture gives more efficient energy-saving HEMS.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a pragmatic methodology that can be used as a guide to construct electric power load forecasting models based on decomposition and segmentation of the load time series.
Abstract: Electricity demand forecasting is a central and integral process for planning periodical operations and facility expansion in the electricity sector. Demand pattern is almost very complex due to the deregulation of energy markets. Therefore, finding an appropriate forecasting model for a specific electricity network is not an easy task. Although many forecasting methods were developed, none can be generalized for all demand patterns. Therefore, this paper presents a pragmatic methodology that can be used as a guide to construct Electric Power Load Forecasting models. This methodology is mainly based on decomposition and segmentation of the load time series. Several statistical analyses are involved to study the load features and forecasting precision such as moving average and probability plots of load noise. Real daily load data from Kuwaiti electric network are used as a case study. Some results are reported to guide forecasting future needs of this network.
