TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of three welding processes on the tensile, fatigue and corrosion behaviour were studied using optical and electron microscopes, and the results showed that the FSW joints exhibit superior tensile and fatigue properties compared to EBW and GTAW joints.

TL;DR: In this paper, the depth of penetration achieved in continuous wave (CW) laser welding results from a balance of many complicated phenomena, which are linked with the characteristics of the heat source.
Abstract: The depth of penetration achieved in continuous wave (CW) laser welding results from a balance of many complicated phenomena, which are linked with the characteristics of the heat source. In this work, the laser welding process has been investigated in terms of basic laser material interaction parameters: power density and interaction time. It has been shown that these two parameters are insufficient to characterize the laser welding process. Thus, a third parameter, specific point energy, has been introduced, which along with the power density and the interaction time allowed the welding process to be uniquely defined. It has been shown that the depth of penetration is mainly controlled by the power density and the specific point energy, whilst the weld width is controlled by the interaction time.

TL;DR: In this article, an overview of the physical background of the resistance welding process is presented, followed by the main problems concerning the appurtenant control theory and solutions to these problems are presented primarily according to the measured signals used and to the type of control strategies.
Abstract: This paper presents an overview of resistance spot welding control. The presentation of the physical background of the resistance welding process is followed by the description of the main problems concerning the appurtenant control theory. Solutions to these problems are presented primarily according to the measured signals used and to the type of control strategies.

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of interfacial reaction layer on the strength of resistance spot welded aluminum/steel joint was investigated by analyzing fracture surface and observing interfacial structure, and the results revealed that the interfacial strength was approximately 6.509 MPa in the case that the reaction layer thickness exceeds 1.5 µm.

07 May 2010TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a laser hybrid welding system that includes sensors that are adapted to measure the weld voltage and/or amperage during the welding process and transmit the acquired data to the controller for processing.
Abstract: Laser hybrid welding systems adapted to identify and/or fix a weld defect occurring during a laser hybrid welding process are provided. Embodiments of the laser hybrid welding system may include one or more devices that provide feedback to a controller regarding one or more weld parameters. One embodiment of the laser hybrid welding system includes sensors that are adapted to measure the weld voltage and/or amperage during the welding process and transmit the acquired data to the controller for processing. Another embodiment of the laser hybrid welding system includes a lead camera and a lag camera that film an area directly in front of the weld location and directly behind the weld location.
