TL;DR: In this paper, a gas energy meter that acquires the data and performs the processing for an inferential determination of one or more gas properties, such as heating value, molecular weight, or density.
Abstract: A gas energy meter that acquires the data and performs the processing for an inferential determination of one or more gas properties, such as heating value, molecular weight, or density. The meter has a sensor module that acquires temperature, pressure, CO2, and speed of sound data. Data is acquired at two different states of the gas, which eliminates the need to determine the concentration of nitrogen in the gas. A processing module receives this data and uses it to perform a “two- state” inferential algorithm.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented an approach for retrofitting an existing meter, particularly an electricity meter, to enable remotely reading the meter. But the approach is limited to one meter and does not address the need to have components specific to any one particular meter.
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for retrofitting to an existing meter, particularly an electricity meter (1), the apparatus comprising a template (4) which is first aligned with a Ferraris disc of the meter, to which template components (6, 7 and 4b) are affixed which enable the meter to be read remotely. Apparatus in accordance with the invention can be retrofitted to many different types of meter, alleviating the need to have components specific to any one particular type of meter.

TL;DR: In this article, a Global Packet for Radio Service (GPRS) based smart energy meter with in-home display is presented, which can take real time voltage, current, and power factor readings.
Abstract: With increasing population, the demand for power is increasing at an exponential rate. Power theft, unpaid bills, poor usage of energy leave the energy market crippled. The rise in use of electronics good due to their cheap cost has distorted power quality. Hence to increase energy consumption efficiency, monitor power quality, closely monitor the energy usage pattern of customers many utilities have employed smart energy meters. The primary goal is to provide a bi — directional communication between customer and the utility. Considering the juvenile stage of employing smart energy meters in India, this paper presents a Global Packet for Radio Service (GPRS) based smart energy meter with in home display. This meter can take real time voltage, current, and power factor readings. The meter calculate the energy consumed and is stored in cloud using GPRS. Graphical programming of LabVIEW is used to develop the In Home Display (IHD). The IHD functions as home energy management system successfully displaying the energy demand curve, harmonic content, load schedule, and current price of energy usage. In addition, a hypothetical Time Of Use (TOU) pricing is developed and analyze the results. Also, a methodology of intelligent scheduling of load appliances in correspondence to TOU have been developed.

TL;DR: In this paper, an electric meter box device consisting of a reed tube, a power source, an alarm, a release switch and a time-delay relay is used to prevent electricity stealing and carry out monitoring.
Abstract: The invention discloses an electric meter box device with the functions of preventing electricity stealing and carrying out monitoring. The electric meter box device comprises a reed tube, a power source, an alarm, a release switch and a time-delay relay. The power source, the alarm and the reed tube form a magnetic field alarm circuit. The time-delay relay, the release switch and the power source form a trigger alarm circuit. A mobile phone with the one-key get-through function is arranged below the time-delay relay. A camera module is arranged in a box body and used for collecting audio-video data and sending the audio-video data to an audio-video decoder, then compressed encoding processing is conducted on the audio-video data, and the audio-video data after the compressed encoding processing is conducted are sent to an M2M module and then are uploaded to a management platform through the M2M module. After the electric meter box device is used, not only is the good effect of preventing electricity stealing achieved, but also criminal offenders are arrested lawfully and unwittingly, arrogance of the criminal offenders is greatly struck, and behaviors of stealing electricity and damaging an electric meter box are eliminated.
