TL;DR: A utility meter database comprises account identification information to identify a user account, utility meter serial number for a utility meter for the user account and utility meter configuration information for downloading to said utility meter as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A utility meter database comprises account identification information to identify a user account, a utility meter serial number for a utility meter for the user account, and utility meter configuration information for downloading to said utility meter. The database further includes account consumption information obtained from said utility meter.

TL;DR: This study reviewed previous research findings that reported AMR-based typical load profile (TLP) generation, and utilized the AMR data of some KEPCO HV customers for TLP generation.
Abstract: Most electric power companies implement an automatic meter reading (AMR) system operating at quarter-hour intervals The companies install the system (an electric meter) at the homes of their high-voltage (HV) customers who consume a significant amount of power each month When first introduced to the industry, the AMR system simply measured customers' peak power and billed them Recent studies are examining the same system's applicability in the cutting-edge smart grid technology A growing number of studies are focusing on AMR-based distribution network load analysis and demand prediction to promote the dissemination of smart grid-based services Researchers are basically using AMR customers' usage data to analyze loads and generate the virtual load profile (VLP) of non-automatic meter reading (nAMR) customers Generating VLP requires clustering and classification that are among the various data mining techniques adopted by researchers This study reviewed previous research findings that reported AMR-based typical load profile (TLP) generation, and utilized the AMR data of some KEPCO HV customers for TLP generation Analyses were performed via three clustering techniques, and the strengths of the techniques were compared

TL;DR: In this paper, a single phase electrical energy meter based on a microcontroller from Microchip Technology Inc. PIC family is presented, which does not possess any rotating parts and can be read from a four-digit display.
Abstract: This paper presents a single phase electrical energy meter based on a microcontroller from Microchip Technology Inc. PIC family. This electronic meter does not possess any rotating parts, and the energy consumption can be easily read from a four-digit display. Besides that, energy consumption is stored in the microcontroller's EPROM memory. This action is necessary to ensure a correct measurement even in the event of an electrical outage or brown out. As soon as the supply is restored, the meter restarts with the stored value. As this meter is compatible with the electromechanical ones, no additional costs will be incurred by the utility companies in their replacement. A single-phase energy meter prototype has been implemented in the lab to provide measurement up 10 A load current from a 127 V line voltage. The observed accuracy was better than 97%.

TL;DR: In this paper, a variable rate electric metering system including electric meters selectively operable at three or more speeds, and a meter remote control system having a control signal generator at the power station to transmit a multi-tone control code reflective of overall system demand over the powerlines and receiving means associated with each meter responsive to the tones to adjust the meter speed.
Abstract: Disclosed is a variable rate electric metering system including electric meters selectively operable at three or more speeds, and a meter remote control system having a control signal generator at the power station to transmit a multi-tone control code reflective of overall system demand over the powerlines and receiving means associated with each meter responsive to the tones to adjust the meter speed. A consumer cost display unit is provided to give an indication of both overall system demand and actual customer power consumption in terms of dollars per hour spent. Wired-in and portable cost display units are disclosed.

TL;DR: Results of the study show that users reduced energy consumption by identifying high-power devices in their home and by playfully setting conservation goals.
Abstract: We investigated the impact of a minimal in-home Energy Consumption Display (ECD), both stationary and portable versions, on household energy awareness and consumption. We deployed the ECD in eight homes for three weeks each, providing half of the participants with a portable version and the others with a stationary one. This work presents an account of each user's experience through pre- and post-surveys, power meter data, and post-deployment interviews and results of the study, which show that users reduced energy consumption by identifying high-power devices in their home and by playfully setting conservation goals.
