TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of displaying a sensor sensing erroneous connection when erroneous connection to a measured electric wire occurs in a power meter was solved by using a transforming means (an input unit 1, a CPU 3, an ROM 4) and a computing means (a CPU 3 and a display unit 6).
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a sensor sensing erroneous connection when erroneous connection to a measured electric wire occurs in a power meter. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a transforming means (an input unit 1, a CPU 3, an ROM 4) and a computing means (a CPU 3, a display unit 6). When electric power is measured by connecting four crocodile clips 1D-1G serving as voltage sensors and three clamp sensors 1A-1C serving as current sensors to their electric paths respectively in a three-phase four-line alternating current path, for example, measured voltages from the respective clips 1D-1G and measured currents from the respective clamp sensors 1A-1C are Fourier- transformed by a transforming means into basic waves for the respective measured voltages and the respective measured currents, and from these basic waves, vectors for the respective measured voltages and the respective currents are computed by means of a computing means for displaying the respective computed vectors on a display unit.

TL;DR: In this article, an intelligent electric meter system for the residents for the intelligent smart grid, one intelligent smart meter is arranged in home of each resident, two control terminals are respectively arranged on each controlled electric appliance and each user switch, and each distributed power supply is provided with a distributed power access device; each control terminal and the distributed Power Supply access device are interconnected through a PLC (Programmable Logic Computer) communication network, and the Intelligent electric meter and a high-class measuring system AMI carry out information interaction.
Abstract: The invention discloses an intelligent electric meter system for residents for an intelligent smart grid. According to the intelligent electric meter system for the residents for the intelligent smart grid, one intelligent electric meter is arranged in home of each resident, two control terminals are respectively arranged on each controlled electric appliance and each user switch, and each distributed power supply is provided with a distributed power supply access device; each control terminal and the distributed power supply access device are interconnected through a PLC (Programmable Logic Computer) communication network, and the intelligent electric meter and a high-class measuring system AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) carry out information interaction. The intelligent electric meter system is suitable for the residents having tiered pricing for electricity and time-sharing pricing for electricity, and aims at minimum electric charge expenditure of users, and is used for intelligently controlling the electric appliances and the distributed power supplies of the residents so as to realize peak clipping and valley filling of the electric charge, and provide power supply quality and power supply reliability.

TL;DR: In this article, a system for monitoring energy consumption of an electrical appliance is presented, which is monitored by the use of new and innovative wireless sensing device that is placed adjacent to or in contact with the appliance while it is operational.
Abstract: A system for monitoring energy consumption of an electrical appliance. The present invention provides an elegant means of monitoring energy consumption by legacy appliances such as a HVAC system. The energy consumption is monitored by the use of new and innovative wireless sensing device that is placed adjacent to or in contact with the appliance while it is operational. Appliance usage pattern information and power consumption information is communicated by the wireless sensing device and is collected by a gateway (and in some embodiments, an energy pump device, an intelligent power meter or a collector device). User behavior is modified by recommending approaches to cut energy consumption by the appliances thereby providing savings and reducing the cost of operation.

11 May 2017TL;DR: The integration of the Arduino and GSM Short Message Service (SMS) provide the meter reading system with some automatic functions that are predefined, and a smart energy meter for an automatic and superior metering and billing system is presented.
Abstract: The demand for power has increased exponentially with time. One avenue through which today's energy problems can be address through the reduction of energy usage in households. This has increased the emphasis on the need for accurate and economic methods of power measurement. The goal of providing such data is to optimize and reduce their power consumption. This paper presents a smart energy meter for an automatic and superior metering and billing system. The integration of the Arduino and GSM Short Message Service (SMS) provide the meter reading system with some automatic functions that are predefined. The proposed energy meter system can incorporate with embedded controller and GSM modem to transmit the data like consumed energy in kWh, generated bill, security services (line Cut/On) over GSM mobile network such as data can be then fed and integrated into existing energy management systems located at power companies or organizations to provide the services among the customers without man-power.
