TL;DR: In this article, an electrochromic device containing a reflecting mirror surface is described, which exhibits coloration and bleaching at ambient temperature by controlling the polarity of an applied electric field, whereby light reaching the reflecting layer electrode is modulated in intensity.
Abstract: Electro-optical device useful in modulation of reflected light, and the like, typically comprising an electrochromic device containing a reflecting mirror surface, said electrochromic device being a sandwich arrangement of a transparent electrode, an electrochromic layer, a reflecting and support layer disposed in a liquid electrolyte and a counterelectrode. The electrochromic device exhibits coloration and bleaching thereof at ambient temperature by control of the polarity of an applied electric field, whereby light reaching the reflecting layer electrode is modulated in intensity, thus modulating, in turn, the reflected light.

TL;DR: In this paper, a counter-electrode or imaging area in an electro-optical data display and imaging device, and the electrode and imaging areas formed, are formed by sandwich arrangement of the imaging area, with a suitable layer between.
Abstract: Method for forming a counter-electrode or imaging area in an electro-optical data display and imaging device, and the electrode and imaging areas formed. An electrochromic data display and imaging device may be formed by sandwich arrangement of the imaging area, the counter-electrode area with a suitable layer between. The device exhibits superior electrochromic reversability and improved speed and cell life over prolonged coloration and erase cycles.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that electrochromism, i.e., changes in spectral characteristics of dye solutions in an electric field, may be used to investigate the molecular mobility of polymers.
Abstract: It is shown that electrochromism, i.e., changes in spectral characteristics of dye solutions in an electric field, may be used to investigate the molecular mobility of polymers. The method is compared with others (NMR, ESR, and luminescence).
