TL;DR: In this article, a rearview mirror system for a vehicle having an electrochromic reflective element and heating means for uniformly heating substantially the entire reflectance surface in order to promote uniform coloration of the reflective surface to a desired reflectance level.
Abstract: A rearview mirror system for a vehicle having an electrochromic reflective element and heating means for uniformly heating substantially the entire reflectance surface in order to promote uniform coloration of the reflectance surface to a desired reflectance level. The reflective element is illustrated as an all solid-state electrochromic element having a large area reflectance surface for use as the exterior mirrors of a truck or other large vehicle. The application of energy to the heater can be controlled on the basis of a low ambient light condition and an ambient temperature that is low but not necessarily freezing, such as between 5° C. and 20° C. The heater can be resistance film that is evenly covering a surface of the reflective element and divided into first and second regions by an insulating break in the resistance film. Energy may be applied to one region in order to heat the reflectance element at a high rate to remove frost and dew. Energy may be applied to both regions in order to apply heat at a lower rate for even coloration of the mirror.

TL;DR: In this article, an electrochromic window assembly is described that includes a first substrate and a second substrate that is maintained in a parallel and spaced relation from the first substrate by means of a window frame and spacer.
Abstract: An electrochromic window assembly is disclosed that includes a first substrate and a second substrate that is maintained in a parallel and spaced relation from the first substrate by means of a window frame and spacer. The window assembly further includes an electrochromic device mounted within the airtight chamber formed between the first and second substrates. Electrochromic device 22 may be mounted so as to provide an air chamber between first substrate 12 , which is the external substrate, and electrochromic device 22 . At least one of the chambers formed between substrates 12 and 14 and electrochromic device 22 may be filled with an insulating gas such as argon. Also disclosed are novel methods for manufacture of an electrochromic device for incorporation into such a window assembly. A novel electrochromic device is also disclosed having electrical bus clips secured about the entire periphery of the electrochromic device.

TL;DR: In this paper, the electrochromic properties of electrodeposited poly(1,4-bis(2-[3,4]-ethylenedioxy]thienyl)-2-methoxy-5-2
Abstract: The electrochromic properties of electrodeposited poly(1,4-bis(2-[3‘,4‘-ethylenedioxy]thienyl)-2-methoxy-5-2‘ ‘-ethylhexyloxybenzene) (P(BEDOT-MEHB)), a material for polymer electrochromic displays, are reported in detail. While the polymer is transparent in the fully oxidized state, two absorption bands obtained in the visible region for the neutral and partially oxidized polymer are due to two different colors from the same material. Compared to other inorganic or organic electrochromic materials, the P(BEDOT-MEHB) films exhibited very high coloration efficiency values: as high as 680 cm2/C at 535 nm and −360 cm2/C at 760 nm. The films have the advantage of exhibiting cathodic and anodic coloration. The space created by the methoxy ethylhexyloxy benzene between EDOT units on the polymer backbone makes the injection/rejection of the negatively charged counterions inside/outside of the polymer easier, resulting in higher doping levels than PEDOT at the same optical density. Very well-defined electrochemi...
