TL;DR: In this paper, the poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) films prepared in an aqueous sodium dodecyl sulfate and lithium tetrafluoroborate electrolyte solution were investigated.
Abstract: The poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) films prepared in an aqueous sodium dodecyl sulfate and lithium tetrafluoroborate electrolyte solution were investigated. It was shown that the PEDOT films prepared in this medium exhibit novel electrochemical and optical properties. Cyclic voltammetric results indicate that the dodecyl sulfate (DS-) anions are trapped in the polymer matrix when PEDOT is deposited onto the gold substrate. The larger DS- anions are immobile and stay in the polymer during a redox process, whereas cation movement dominates the charge compensation, moving in and out of the polymer matrix, when the PEDOT film is redox-cycled. The infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic results further confirmed the incorporation of DS- into the PEDOT film. Surface plasmon resonance was used to investigate the film growth and the optical properties of PEDOT films upon doping and dedoping at two laser wavelengths. With the film growing, an increase in doping level as well as an increase in refr...

TL;DR: In this paper, a cyclic voltammogram of iridium oxide films (AIROFs) was obtained in a basic aqueous medium, and it was shown that a total of two electrons/iridium are exchanged in each redox system as the charges involved in both systems are nearly the same.

TL;DR: In this article, peroxotungstic acid coated films were investigated for applications to electrochromic display devices, and the results showed that after several writing-erasing cycles involving linear sweeps when the films had been heat-treated at about 120°C for 1 h.
Abstract: Peroxotungstic acid coated films were investigated for applications to electrochromic display devices. Films coated with peroxotungstic acid aqueous solutions exhibited electrochromism in non-aqueous electrolyte solutions containing Li-salts. A good reversibility for the electrochromic reaction was attained after several writing-erasing cycles involving linear sweeps when the films had been heat-treated at about 120°C for 1 h. Cathodic polarization of the coated films irreversibly reduced the peroxotungstic acid to tungsten trioxide in the electrolyte. This resulted in the devices having poor initial response characteristics. After several aging cycles, however, the coloring efficiency and response rate of the coated films were favorable and comparable to those of tungsten trioxide evaporated films.

TL;DR: In this article, an extra layer of a dihexyl-substituted poly(3,4-propylenedioxythiophene) (PProDOT-Hx2) was added to complement the optical absorption spectrum of PEDOT:PSS.
Abstract: PEDOT:PSS-based electrochromic displays have been explored for manufacture on flexible paper substrates in roll-to-roll printing presses at high volumes and low costs. Here, we report the improvement of the optical contrast of such devices by adding an extra layer of a dihexyl-substituted poly(3,4-propylenedioxythiophene) (PProDOT-Hx2) to complement the optical absorption spectrum of PEDOT:PSS. The oxidized state of PProDOT-Hx2 is highly transparent and is an intense magenta color while in the reduced state. By adding a layer of PProDOT-Hx2 directly on top of PEDOT:PSS, we were able to improve the optical contrast by nearly a factor of two. In this report, we present optical and electrochemical data of PProDOT-Hx2/PEDOT:PSS-based electrochromic paper displays and compare their performance with PEDOT:PSS-only equivalents.
