TL;DR: In this paper, a Ni 3 Al-hBN-Ag intermetallic matrix composite coating was prepared on Ni-based superalloy by reactive sintering, and the crystalline phase and microstructure of the coating were examined by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).

TL;DR: In this article, a layer of nickel-phosphorus alloy was electroless plated on the surface of a polymer coating (epoxy resin) on a micro-arc oxidized AZ31 magnesium alloy without the common process of sensitization.
Abstract: A layer of nickel–phosphorus alloy was electroless plated on the surface of a polymer coating (epoxy resin) on a micro-arc oxidized AZ31 magnesium alloy without the common process of sensitization. The structure of the sample with a nickel plated coating on a polymer coating was investigated by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and an energy dispersed X-ray spectroscope (EDS), and the corrosion resistance of polymer coated samples before and after electroless nickel plating was investigated by electrochemical techniques and immersion tests. The results show that an electroless nickel plated coating on the polymer coating of an MAO coated AZ31 magnesium alloy can not only improve its corrosion resistance, but also make it a metallic surface. The layered composite coating fails by its lifting up by the accumulated corrosion products beneath the MAO coating after a long time immersion.

13 May 2003TL;DR: In this paper, aqueous electroless nickel plating solution based on nickel salts of alkyl sulfonic acids as the source of nickel ions is described. But the plating solutions are free of added nickel hypophosphite, and free of alkali or alkaline earth metal ions capable of forming an insoluble orthophosphate.
Abstract: This invention relates to aqueous electroless nickel plating solutions, and more particularly, to nickel plating solutions based on nickel salts of alkyl sulfonic acids as the source of nickel ions. The plating solutions utilize, as a reducing agent, hypophosphorous acid or bath soluble salts thereof selected from sodium hypophosphite, potassium hypophosphite and ammonium hypophosphite. The electroless nickel plating solutions of the invention are free of added nickel hypophosphite, and free of alkali or alkaline earth metal ions capable of forming an insoluble orthophosphite.
