TL;DR: In this paper, a temperature-stable bulk-acoustic-wave (BAW) filter consisting of a thin ZnO/SiO2 composite diaphragm structure on a silicon wafer is presented.
Abstract: This paper reports on a temperature-stable bulk-acoustic-wave (BAW) filter consisting of a thin ZnO/SiO2 composite diaphragm structure on a silicon wafer. To make a theoretical treatment of the BAW filter possible, the constants for the distributed-parameter equivalent circuit extended to the composite structure are derived from analysis of the dispersion curves for waves propagating along the ZnO/SiO2 diaphragm. Some actual filters are designed and analysed using the equivalent circuit. The measured characteristics of a 578-MHz BAW filter of the two-coupled-resonator type fabricated on silicon are reported and discussed. The results demonstrate that the measured characteristics resemble the theoretical ones but that the insertion loss is as high as 12 dB.

TL;DR: In this paper, a modified coupling of modes (COM) approach is proposed for the practical design of a layered surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter, where frequency dependences of the COM parameters are included by using the effective permittivity approach of surface waves.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a modified coupling of modes (COM) approach, which can be used in the practical design of a layered surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter. Unlike the half-space SAW filter, frequency dependences of the COM parameters are included by using the effective permittivity approach of surface waves. Owing to the introduction of the COM model, the effects of propagation loss, electrode reflections, electrical transduction, acoustic reception, thin film loss and the distributed finger capacitance can be taken into accounts in the frequency analysis of the layered SAW filter. The frequency response of a two-port 440 MHz IDT/ZnO/R-plane sapphire layered SAW filter is analysed and compared with the existing experimental results. Results have shown good agreement between the calculated and experimental frequency responses.

Abstract: A surface acoustic wave filter employing surface acoustic wave electrodes for forming a ladder filter circuit according to the invention, the SAW filter comprises a series resonator group including a plurality of surface acoustic wave electrodes formed on a surface of a piezoelectric substrate and electrically disposed in series between an input terminal and an output terminal; and a parallel resonator group including a plurality of surface acoustic wave electrodes individually electrically disposed in parallel between an input- or output-terminal of the individual surface acoustic wave electrodes of the series resonator group and a ground electrode, wherein a part number of the surface acoustic electrodes of the parallel resonator group is configured to deteriorate an obtained Q value and presents a resonant frequency which is lower than an antiresonant frequency and higher than a resonant frequency respectively formed by the other surface acoustic wave electrodes of the parallel resonator group Thus is obtained a steep shoulder characteristic curve on a lower side of a passband

TL;DR: In this article, a ladder-type electric filter circuit is described, where each filter unit includes a casing of metal into which piezoelectric resonator elements and terminal plates are inserted, and the metal casing is securely mounted on a printed circuit board by soldering.
Abstract: A ladder-type electric filter circuit apparatus having a plurality of thinner electric filter units wherein each electric filter unit includes a casing of metal into which piezoelectric resonator elements and terminal plates are inserted, and the metal casing is securely mounted on a printed circuit board by soldering. The piezoelectric resonator elements and terminal plates are insulated from the metal casing by an insulating plate and an elastic insulatiang plate which is also served as a vibration or shock absorber for protecting the contained filter from any external vibration or shock propagated through the printed circuit board.

TL;DR: It is shown that the noise generated in a passive first-order switched-capacitor lowpass filter has its origin in the thermal noise of the m.o.s. transistors' on-resistance.
Abstract: It is shown that the noise generated in a passive first-order switched-capacitor lowpass filter has its origin in the thermal noise of the m.o.s. transistors' on-resistance. The spectral description of this noise at the output of the filter is given. The measurements made on a discrete laboratory model show good correspondence with the analytical results and confirm the noise model established.
