TL;DR: In this article, the accumulated rotation and unloading stiffness of two model bucket foundations embedded in soft clay under one-way cyclic horizontal loads was investigated, and the results showed that the accumulated rotations of the bucket foundations increased with increased number of load cycles and cyclic load magnitudes.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the ultimate limit state (ULS) of continuous and discontinuous pile rows in a frictional soil slope by performing 2D and 3D numerical analyses, respectively.

22 Jan 1991TL;DR: In this paper, a retainer for receiving a fastener and adapted for loading into a mold for embedding in a trim article molded of molding material is presented, where a flexible lip encompasses the housing for sealingly engaging with the mold.
Abstract: A retainer for receiving a fastener and adapted for loading into a mold for embedment in a trim article molded of molding material. The retainer has a housing having an upper portion for accepting the fastener and a lower portion for embedment in the molded trim article. A flexible lip encompasses the housing for sealingly engaging with the mold thereby preventing the molding material from making contact with the upper portion of the housing and allowing the molding material to make contact with the lower portion of the housing.

TL;DR: In this article, a series of direct shear tests were performed using an idealised two-dimensional test medium consisting of rhombically stacked steel rods to facilitate displacement computations for reinforced slopes using a force-equilibrium-based finite-displacement method.
Abstract: A series of direct shear tests were performed using an idealised two-dimensional test medium consisting of rhombically stacked steel rods to facilitate displacement computations for reinforced slopes using a force-equilibrium-based finite-displacement method. A series of pullout tests using extensible and stiff reinforcement with various embedment lengths (Lt) were also performed. Modelling for the non-linear behaviour of shear stress–displacement and pullout force–displacement relationships was performed using hyperbolic models. In modelling shear stress–displacement relationships for the steel rod backfill, a linear Mohr–Coulomb failure envelope was assumed for the investigated range of confining pressures. It was found that model parameters for the initial shear stiffness, namely K and n, are significantly different from those for ordinary soils because of the regular and dense packing of the steel rods, but are advantageous as a backfill material for model tests because of its consistency an...

TL;DR: In this paper, a digital image signal is divided into blocks and each of the divided blocks is subjected to orthogonal transformation and one or more frequency components are selected in accordance with a characteristic amount that is extracted from the several frequency components.
Abstract: A digital image signal is divided into blocks. Each of the divided blocks is subjected to orthogonal transformation. As a result, the divided blocks are transformed into several frequency components. One or more frequency components are selected in accordance with a characteristic amount that is extracted from the several frequency components. Values of the selected frequency components are operated under a predetermined rule in accordance with an embedment signal that is generated from embedment information.
