Abstract: The buildings represent the most important part of the energy consumption and the greenhouse effect. The inhabitants are confronted to a variable price of energy and some heater set points effects according to hour and days and to energy producers. In this dynamic context of production and consumption of energy, a building equipped with a home automation system to control the energy takes its importance. This chapter presents different approaches proposed to generate an optimal strategy for energy management system and ends by presenting a solution to handle and transform models.

Abstract: The concept behind the design of a renewable energy supply system is the technical, economic, social and ecological optimisation of the various components—the renewable energy generator, the energy storage unit, as well as the operating philosophy, which involves the energy management system, load shedding, dumping of generated energy and conventional generator backup. In this section, stand-alone photovoltaic systems for rural electrification are presented from a technical point of view with a focus on solar home systems. The knowledge on the components and the overall system enables the above design of solar home systems.

Abstract: Energy storage system (ESS) is an essential component of smart micro grid for compensating intermittent renewable generation and continuous power supply. Batteries are most commonly used in ESS. For optimal energy management of micro grid, the optimization algorithm needs knowledge of battery parameters like state of charge (SOC), voltage, temperature etc. Further for implementing various control and stability strategies, there is need of communication of battery parameters among various components of micro grid. With knowledge of battery parameter, grid operator can make better utilization of available ESS resources and also reduce renewable curtailment. A smart battery management system (BMS) is developed which calculates and communicates battery parameters. Various communication protocols namely Modbus, CAN, Ethernet and Wifi are incorporated in the smart BMS which makes it compatible for many applications. Smart BMS additionally performs active cell balancing using cell to cell balancing topology. The BMS is successfully implemented in a smart micro grid in India and the findings of the implementation are discussed in this paper. They serve as the foundation for further implementation of optimal energy management in the smart micro grid for minimizing operation costs.

Abstract: The invention discloses an energy management system based on coal mill energy-saving analysis and diagnosis. The system comprises a central processor and grinding station coal mill operation equipment. An input end of the central processor is electrically connected with an output end of monitoring equipment through a lead. The input end of the monitoring equipment is electrically connected with the output end of the grinding station coal mill operation equipment through the lead. The system relates to the energy management technology field. By using the energy management system based on coal mill energy-saving analysis and diagnosis, according to the energy-saving system of coal mill analysis, diagnosis and optimization of a grinding station and an analysis strategy, an off-peak electricity consumption pulverizing scheme can be dynamically planned according to real-time data of coal mill of the grinding station so that the off-peak electricity consumption pulverizing scheme can be adjusted in time on site according to an actual production condition, and an effect of saving cost is achieved. And various data are analyzed and diagnosed by a database server so that the system is morerefined, distribution of each time period is more reasonable, an intelligent degree is high and practicability is improved.
