TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of series resistance on the electron transport and recombination processes in dye-sensitized solar cells was investigated by combining three frequency-domain techniques, namely electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), intensity modulated photocurrent spectrograms (IMPS), and intensity modulating photovoltage spectrography (IMVS), to study the relationship between series resistance and the dynamic response of DSC.

TL;DR: The condition monitoring system proposed in this paper is based on the online estimation of the capacitor's equivalent series resistance using the switching frequency components of the dc-link capacitor voltage and current, and is adapted for the condition monitoring of capacitors in industrial power converters.
Abstract: This paper proposes an online condition monitoring system for aluminum electrolytic capacitors used as dc-link capacitors in industrial power converters. Electrolytic capacitors are one of the most fragile components of a power converter system because of their wear-out failures and short lifespan. Therefore, the use of condition monitoring systems for aluminum electrolytic capacitors allow preventive maintenance to be performed, thereby avoiding unexpected shutdown and downtime. The dominant wear-out mechanisms in aluminum electrolytic capacitors are characterized by the increase in equivalent series resistance. Hence, the condition monitoring system proposed in this paper is based on the online estimation of the capacitor's equivalent series resistance using the switching frequency components of the dc-link capacitor voltage and current. The equivalent series resistance estimation method is tested using the PSpice circuit simulator and is validated experimentally using a custom-made inverter. Finally, the equivalent series resistance estimation method is adapted for the condition monitoring of capacitors in industrial power converters and the proposed condition monitoring system is implemented in a commercial ac drive system to prove the applicability of the proposed method to industrial power converters.

TL;DR: An asymmetrical half-bridge power converter and a method of manufacturing the same are presented in this article. But the authors do not specify a power switch configuration for the asymmetric half-branch power converter.
Abstract: An asymmetrical half-bridge power converter and a method of manufacturing the same. In one embodiment, the asymmetrical half-bridge power converter includes: (1) first and second power switches configured to be controlled by complementary drive signals having nominal first and second duty cycles of D and 1-D, respectively and (2) first and second capacitors, having intrinsic capacitance values proportional to 1-D and D, respectively, and intrinsic equivalent series resistance (ESR) values proportional to D and 1-D, respectively, configured to reduce input ripple current associated with the asymmetrical half-bridge power converter.

TL;DR: In this article, the electrical properties of Al/NiPc/Ag surface type Schottky diode fabricated by vacuum thermal evaporation have been investigated at room temperature in dark.
Abstract: Electrical properties of Al/NiPc/Ag surface type Schottky diode fabricated by vacuum thermal evaporation have been investigated. The current–voltage (I–V) and capacitance–voltage (C–V) characteristics are measured at room temperature in dark. The electronic parameters such as ideality factor, barrier height, series resistance and shunt resistance of the Schottky diode are calculated from the current–voltage and capacitance–voltage characteristics. The charge carrier concentration and built in potential values of 9.1×1015 cm−3 and 1.6 V, respectively, are obtained from the C–V plot. The value of conductivity and mobility has also been calculated. In addition, the values of ideality factor and series resistance are also verified by using Cheung's function. Frequency-dependent measurements on this Schottky barrier diode show that the capacitance is reduced at high frequency.
