Abstract: Standard specifications for sulfate-resisting cements and laboratory tests for evaluating the sulfate resistance do not take into account the acid-type sulfate attack associated with gypsum formation. A new laboratory test, which is quick and reproducible, was found useful in evaluating the resistance of cements to ettringite-type and gypsum-type attack. The test showed significant differences in relative sulfate resistance of Type V portland cements and blended portland cements. It is concluded that the sulfate resistance of cements depends not only on the total reactive aluminates present but also on the total Ca (OH) sub 2 present in the cement paste.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the early hydration reactions and resultant compressive strength in a 50:50 slag:cement binder in the presence of Na2SO4 and found that the early strength increases were due to a combination of increased alite hydration and increased slag dissolution.

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential usage of dolomite instead of limestone as an addition to Portland metakaolin cement by measuring the development of the compressive strength and phase assemblages at 5°C, 20°C or 38°C was investigated.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the influence of cement composition on resistance in high sulfates environment, standard mortars have been produced using ordinary Portland cement and limestone cement with 35% limestone (CEM II/B-LL -32.5), and the pore size distribution of the cement pastes was measured.
