TL;DR: On August 8, 2003, the seventh European Union (EU) reform package went into effect in Turkey, significantly curbing the role of the military in politics as mentioned in this paper, and Turkey now has laws guaranteeing freedom of speech, and the military is no longer the kingmaker in Ankara.
Abstract: On August 8, 2003, the seventh European Union (EU) reform package went into effect in Turkey, significantly curbing the role of the military in politics. This legislation, passed by the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government on August 4, follows six previous packages adopted since February 2002. Collectively, these reform measures have vastly liberalized the country's political system, facilitating Kurdish broadcasting and education, abolishing the death penalty, and subjecting Turkish courts to the European Court of Human Rights. Turkey now has laws guaranteeing freedom of speech, and the military is no longer the kingmaker in Ankara. TL;DR: The cases described by Dr J6nasson emphasise the seriousness of injuries which may be associated with the use of this popular type of goggle which incorporates a strong elastic band.
Abstract: with permanent injury. These injuries had usually been caused by collision with other swimmers or the side or bottom of the pool rather than by the catapult effect described. The cases described by Dr J6nasson emphasise the seriousness of injuries which may be associated with the use of this popular type of goggle which incorporates a strong elastic band. In the light of these reports the society is continuing to discourage their use during teaching sessions and proposes to seek the opinion of other organisations responsible for other aquatic activities.

TL;DR: The regulations and procedures for the training and assessment of pathologists engaged in morbid anatomy and histology, medical microbiology, haematology, and clinical chemistry in the countries of the European Economic Community are reviewed.
Abstract: The regulations and procedures for the training and assessment of pathologists engaged in morbid anatomy and histology, medical microbiology, haematology, and clinical chemistry in the countries of the European Economic Community are reviewed. Differences in the terminology used in the description of pathological disciplines are noted. Suggestions are made by which harmonisation of training, which is an EEC objective, could be achieved.

Abstract: The activities of the Nuffield Provincial Hospitals Trust have consistently acted as a stimulus for the improvement in the quality of medical care in this country, one of the Trust's most notable contributions in this field being the publication of the monograph by A.L. Cochrane1 entitled "Effectiveness and Efficiency — Random Reflections on Health Services." To expand Cochrane's theme the trustees subsequently convened a small group under the chairmanship of the late Lord Rosenheim, and the topics that they considered have now been presented as a series of essays in a new publication edited by Mr. Gordon McLachlan and entitled . . .
