TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived a dynamic version of a model originally proposed by Char et al. (Macromolecules 1989, 22, 3177−3180) where the pyrene excimer is formed in a sequential manner.
Abstract: Steady-state and fluorescence decay measurements have been carried out on aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene glycol)s made of a central chain spanning two pyrene labels and flanked by overhangs of various lengths. These decays exhibit excimer formation kinetics which cannot be explained within the theoretical framework of the classic Birks' scheme. The decay analysis is complicated by the existence of hydrophobic associations between the pyrene groups. We have analyzed our time-resolved fluorescence decays by deriving a dynamic version of a model originally proposed by Char et al. (Macromolecules 1989, 22, 3177−3180) where the pyrene excimer is formed in a sequential manner. A diffusion process brings the two chromophores within a capture volume where the excimer is produced at a much higher rate. An analysis of our fluorescence decays based on this approach yields kinetic parameters which are consistent with the Char et al. model and earlier observations made on these systems. As the size of the overhang...

TL;DR: In this article, four wavelength extensions have been investigated by stimulated Raman scattering in hydrogen or deuterium gas of the 248 nm fundamental output of a narrow-band tunable KrF excimer laser.
Abstract: Four wavelength extensions have been investigated by stimulated Raman scattering in hydrogen or deuterium gas of the 248 nm fundamental output of a narrow-band tunable KrF excimer laser. They have been used to acquire laser-induced fluorescence spectra of NO and OH in flames at atmospheric pressure. NO is detected in relatively high rotational states within the γ-band electronic system at 225 nm. OH was excited at 291.5 nm in the (1–0), at 313 nm in the (1–1) and at 268.5 nm in the predissociative (3–1) band of the 2Σ–2Π electronic band system, respectively. Prospects of 2D imaging for concentration and temperature measurements in flames using these wavelength extensions are discussed.

TL;DR: The histopathological results indicate that corneal wound healing after excimer laser PRK varies among individuals, which suggests the need for individually-tailored postoperative pharmaceutical treatment regimens.
Abstract: BackgroundThe results of excimer laser PRK are promising as more than 80% of eyes with up to −60 diopters of attempted correction have refractive results within 10 diopter of emmetropia However

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential energy curves of the argon excimer that arise due to excitation to the 4s and 4p Rydberg molecular orbitals were computed and compared with those previously computed.
Abstract: Configuration interaction calculations are reported for the potential energy curves of the argon excimer that arise due to excitation to the 4s and 4p Rydberg molecular orbitals. Effective core potentials were employed to replace the core electrons of the Ar atoms thereby reducing the computational procedure to one for a 16 valence system. Potential energy curves for three excimer states of each of the symmetries 1Σ+g, 1Σ+u, 3Σ+g, 3Σ+u, 1Πu, 3Πu, 1Πg, and 3Πg are reported and compared with those previously computed. Spectroscopic constants and curve maxima are reported where appropriate.
