TL;DR: The state of the art of the hermeneutic premises of reformed exegesis can be found in this article, where the authors present a review of the state-of-the-art.
Abstract: Hermeneutics as discipline finds itself in troubled waters. This has been caused, inter alia, by a postmodernistic mindset that has exchanged the truth of a retraceable conclusion for the individual’s subjective perception of truth and reality. This has contributed to the fact that biblical hermeneutics finds itself in an impasse, so that it has become necessary for the reformed hermeneutics to redefine its fundamentals: the hermeneutic premises on which reformed exegesis is founded. This article attempts this by way of establishing the state of the art of the hermeneutic premises of reformed exegesis and developing and edifying it, utilising results of the past half century’s new insights in hermeneutics.

TL;DR: Grammatical-historical exegesis: quid est et quo vadis? as mentioned in this paper investigates the grammaticalhistorical method of biblical interpretation and makes suggestions regarding changes to this method.
Abstract: Grammatical-historical exegesis: quid est et quo vadis? This article investigates the grammatical-historical method of biblical interpretation. The aim is to indicate certain problems in the approach through critical investigation and to make suggestions regarding changes to this method. Emphasis is placed on the historical- and reader-focused aspects related to reading an ancient biblical text. The development of the grammaticalhistorical method is placed against the backdrop of the development of biblical interpretation in general. Lastly, suggestions are made on how the results of the historical-Jesus research can contribute to responsible exegesis.

TL;DR: In this article, the adoration of the Magi (Mt. 2.1.1-12), the first public and universal seeing of Christ and one of the most frequently depicted scenes in the entire history of biblical art, is used to illustrate Gadamer's approach.
Abstract: The article considers the visual dimensions associated with Wirkungsgeschichte. It accentuates the role of the artist as an active reader of the Bible and not merely as an illustrator of biblical scenes and highlights the approach of Hans-Georg Gadamer in appreciating the part played by the viewer, as well as the artist, in the visual hermeneutical process. The biblical story of the adoration of the Magi (Mt. 2.1-12), the first public and universal seeing of Christ and one of the most frequently depicted scenes in the entire history of biblical art, is used to illustrate Gadamer’s approach. The emphasis in the biblical narrative on the revealing of the Christ-child to the reader parallels a key concept in Gadamer’s hermeneutical aesthetics, namely Darstellung, a term that denotes how a painting facilitates its subject matter in coming forth, in becoming an existential event, an epiphany , in the life of the viewer.

TL;DR: In this article, the author concludes that although Tabataba'i introduced some novel elements in Shi'a tafsir relating to the identity of Sabians in the Qur'an, his description, knowledge and assumptions of Buddhism were mostly elementary and often incorrect.
Abstract: This paper offers some preliminary notes on the position of Buddhists in Shi'a legal and tafsir (exegesis) discourse with particular emphasis on Muhammad Husayn Tabataba'i's treatment of the subject in his al-Mizan fi Tafsir al-Qur'an . The author concludes that although Tabataba'i introduced some novel elements in Shi'a tafsir relating to the identity of Sabians in the Qur'an, his description, knowledge and assumptions of Buddhism were taken from third-hand sources and were mostly elementary and often incorrect. A study of al-Mizan is nevertheless important as Tabataba'i's views on Sabians and Buddhists set the tone for all later Iranian Shi'a exegetes. This exegetical position is legally significant as it reinforces the position that Buddhists are not to be identified with the Qur'anic Sabians and are thus excluded from any possible kitabi status despite the fact that some Imami jurists may have considered the Buddha to be a divinely sanctioned prophet. This exclusion has the potential to complicate relationships in marriage or other forms of social contact due to ritual purity laws.
