TL;DR: In this paper, a method for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network is proposed.
Abstract: A method for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network is proposed The packet bearer (PB) transmits the data packet (DP) to a communication entity in the communication network The communication network comprises at least one control entity (PCRF A) to exchange signaling information with the user equipment (UE1) The user equipment (UE1) comprises at least one executing unit (EU) for executing one or more applications (APP) which create the data packet (DP), a packet marking entity (PME) for marking at least one control field (CF) in the data packet and a transmission unit (TU) for sending the data packet (DP) on the packet bearer (PB) After setting up the packet bearer (PB) between the transmission unit (TU) and the communication entity, a first signaling (SIG1) of filter parameters for defining a packet filter (PF) is received by the user equipment (UE1 ) The filter parameters correspond to a packet marking A second signaling (SIG2) of the packet marking from the control entity is received by the user equipment (UE1) and forwarded to the packet marking entity (PME) The data packet is marked with the signaled packet marking The packet filter (PF) corresponding to the filter parameters is established for scanning data packets forwarded from the executing unit (EU) to the transmission unit (TU) and is associated with the packet bearer (PB) The data packet (DP) with the marking corresponding to the filter parameters is forwarded on the associated packet bearer (PB) A corresponding mobile network, control entity, user equipment and computer program are also described

TL;DR: The wavelength-, time-, code-, and space-division approaches, including free-space photonic fast packet switching, are discussed, which show that the research in this area is still in its infancy.
Abstract: Several approaches to photonic fast packet switching systems are presented. The wavelength-, time-, code-, and space-division approaches, including free-space photonic fast packet switching, are discussed. These approaches to photonic fast packet switching systems show that the research in this area is still in its infancy. Among various solutions, those based on a wavelength-division transport network and an electronic controller are most mature. >

TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for controlling a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) controller is presented, which includes a decoder for decoding a control message received over the packet data control channel, a demodulator for demodulating packet data received over a packet data channel, and a turbo decoder to decode the demodulated packet data.
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) is provided. In the apparatus, a physical layer includes a decoder for decoding a control message received over the packet data control channel, a demodulator for demodulating packet data received over the packet data channel, and a turbo decoder for decoding the demodulated packet data. A physical layer's HARQ controller determines whether to demodulate and decode the received packet data depending on a decoding result of the control message, outputs the decoded control message to the demodulator and the turbo decoder for demodulation and decoding of the received packet data, controls output of a response signal according to decoding result of the packet data, and delivers the turbo-decoded packet data to an upper layer.

TL;DR: In this paper, a smoothed version of two or more inter-arrival times, smoothed over a predetermined number of pairs of consecutive packets, is calculated for a packet flow.
Abstract: A method of measuring jitter of a packet flow includes identifying the data packet flow at each of a first and second network locations by analyzing the data fields of each of the packets in the flow The method associates a transmit time code with each packet transmitted from the first location, and associates a receive time code with each packet received at the second location The method calculates inter-arrival times for consecutive pairs of packets by (i) subtracting the transmit time code of the first packet from the transmit time code of the second packet, (ii) subtracting the receive time code associated with the first packet from the receive time code associated with the second packet, and (iii) subtracting the results The method includes calculating a jitter value as a smoothed version of two or more inter-arrival times, smoothed over a predetermined number of pairs of consecutive packets

TL;DR: In this article, a method and a system for centralized packet processing is described, which includes transferring a packet received at a port interface of a network device (1100) to an uplink interface of the network devices (1110), and sending the packet to a uplink from the uplink (1120).
Abstract: A method and system for centralized packet processing is disclosed. The method includes transferring a packet received at a port interface of a network device (1100) to an uplink interface of the network device (1110), and sending the packet to an uplink from the uplink interface (1120). The transferring and the sending are performed irrespective of a destination of the packet.
