05 Oct 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a transmission device has a priority information adding unit which repeats for each of the plurality of packets, an operation such that respective degrees of importance of a plurality of priorities are set for one packet, and priority information data are generated by using the plurality for addition to a packet header included in the packet; a transmission unit which transmits a plurality, and a retransmission unit which receives a request packet and retransmits the packet which is requested to be returned.
Abstract: A transmission device has a priority information adding unit which repeats for each of the plurality of packets, an operation such that respective degrees of importance of a plurality of priorities are set for one packet, and priority information data are generated by using the plurality of priorities for addition to a packet header included in the packet; a transmission unit which transmits a plurality of packets; and a retransmission unit which receives a retransmission requesting packet and retransmits the packet which is requested to be retransmitted. A reception device has a reception unit which receives a plurality of packets; and a retransmission request unit which extracts a plurality of sequence numbers and a plurality of elements of priority information data, detects missing packets in accordance with the plurality of extracted sequence numbers and the plurality of elements of extracted priority information data, and requests a packet having a high degree of importance among the detected packets to be retransmitted.

TL;DR: An algorithm for voice synchronization for packet switching networks is presented that runs on the TRAME packet switching network for both the Vocoder and CELP DoD voice coding standards.
Abstract: An algorithm for voice synchronization for packet switching networks is presented. The algorithm has been tested both in simulation and on a real network. The algorithm runs on the TRAME packet switching network for both the Vocoder and CELP DoD voice coding standards. Some results of these tests are presented. Some details of the algorithm development and implementation are given as well. >

28 Jul 1982TL;DR: In this article, a packet including data for detecting a data error is formed for a data unit made up of a series of data packets sent to a packet mode terminal, and send to the packetmode terminal.
Abstract: It is efficient to detect a data error, which is produced in a packet switching network, in a range between final users of data. A packet including data for detecting a data error is formed for a data unit made up of a series of data packets sent to a packet mode terminal, and send to the packet mode terminal. A data error is detected by the data for detecting a data error each time the above-mentioned series of data packets are received.

01 Sep 2015TL;DR: In this article, a method for automatically detecting a packet mode in a wireless communication system supporting a multiple transmission mode includes: acquiring at least one of data rate information, packet length information and channel bandwidth information from a transmitted frame; and determining the packet mode on the basis of the phase rotation check result of a symbol transmitted after a signal field signal.

06 Jan 1994TL;DR: In this article, a method for providing packet error indication in a multi-hop communications system in which packets of data are transmitted from a transmission site to a reception site via a plurality of successive physical links is presented.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for providing packet error indication in a multi-hop communications system in which packets of data are transmitted from a transmission site to a reception site via a plurality of successive physical links. According to the method, at the transmission site, a pre-defined bit in a packet to be transmitted is set to a first value, the first value indicating that no errors are present in the packet. Then, at each successive physical link in the communication system, after transmission of the packet over that physical link, the following steps are performed: (a) detecting whether any uncorrectable errors occurred in the packet during transmission over that physical link; (b) if an uncorrectable error is detected, setting the pre-defined bit in the packet to a second value wherein the second value is indicative of an uncorrectable error in the data of the packet; and (c) relaying the packet to the next successive physical link for transmission over that next link. A decoder at the reception site may, upon receiving a given packet, examine the value of the pre-defined bit to determined the integrity of the data contained in that packet.
