TL;DR: In this paper, a multiple-stream, multiple-antenna receiver measures a composite channel between a multipleantenna transmitter and a multiple antenna receiver to produce a composite frequency measurement, where each antenna array weight set is associated with one of multiple data streams.
Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to increase a data rate between a transmitter and receiver using a multiple-input, multiple-output radio frequency channel. A multiple-stream, multiple-antenna receiver measures a composite channel between a multiple-antenna transmitter and a multiple-antenna receiver to produce a composite channel measurement. The receiver selects a plurality of antenna array weight sets for use in the multiple-antenna transmitter in response to the composite channel measurement, where each antenna array weight set is associated with one of multiple data streams. Information describing the plurality of antenna array weight sets for use in the multiple-antenna transmitter are then transmitted.

TL;DR: In this article, a new type of antenna is described which utilizes the optical properties of radio waves, which consists of a number of conducting plates of proper shape and spacing and is, in effect, a lens, the focusing action of which is due to the high phase velocity of a wave passing between the plates.
Abstract: A new type of antenna is described which utilizes the optical properties of radio waves. It consists of a number of conducting plates of proper shape and spacing and is, in effect, a lens, the focusing action of which is due to the high phase velocity of a wave passing between the plates. Its field of usefulness extends from the very short waves up to wavelengths of perhaps five meters or more. The paper discusses the properties of this antenna, methods of construction, and applications.

TL;DR: In this design procedure, the microstrip reflectarray has been shown to be an effective linear array capable of beam switching and dual polarization.
Abstract: Microstrip reflectarray antennas present an alternative to conventional directive antennas in that they are flat, inexpensive, easy to install and manufacture, conformal to the mounting surface, easy to package, and they possess high power and beam steering capabilities. For the first time, a comprehensive, experimentally verified design procedure for the microstrip reflectarray is presented. In this design procedure, the microstrip reflectarray has been shown to be an effective linear array capable of beam switching and dual polarization. The design procedure also allows the array to be fed from a feed-horn offset at any given angle to the plane of the array. The design procedure is well suited for CAD programs. >

TL;DR: In this paper, a radio frequency identification transponder has a high gain antenna for increased range and a horn antenna providing increased gain and directivity, while a patch antenna provides increased gain, and circular polarization.
Abstract: A radio frequency identification transponder has a high gain antenna for increased range. In an embodiment, the radio frequency transponder has a reflector to increase its operative range. A system of one or more reflectors is operatively associated with a transponder and may be formed out of any sort of radio frequency reflective material. The reflector system can enhance reception or transmission of radio waves by or from the transponder. The reflector system may also be used to provide for selective coupling of the radio frequency transponder with a base station, user- or vehicle-supported reader, or the like based on relative orientation. In addition, the reflector system may be used to selectively reflect particular radio waves. In another embodiment, the radio frequency transponder has a horn antenna providing increased gain and directivity. In yet another embodiment, the radio frequency transponder has a patch antenna providing increased gain and circular polarization. The patch antenna may further comprise a patch antenna array, a multi-layer patch or a dipole comprised of patch elements.

TL;DR: In this article, an improved single antenna system that allows reception of RF energy at multiple frequencies is presented, which is capable of providing movement such that the feed horn with the LNB is at a focal point with the primary reflector for both Ka and Ku band reception.
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved single antenna system that allows reception of RF energy at multiple frequencies. In one embodiment, the antenna is implemented as a multi-beam, multi-feed antenna having a primary reflector fitted with a dual mode feed tube and a switchable LNB that supports both Ka band and Ku band reception. In another embodiment, the antenna is implemented as a multi-beam, multi-feed antenna having a primary reflector fitted with a feed horn and a LNB that is capable of providing movement such that the feed horn with the LNB is at a focal point with the primary reflector for both Ka and Ku band reception. In another embodiment, the antennae is implemented as a multi-beam, multi-feed antenna having a primary reflected fitted with a feed horn assembly and a switchable LNB that supports both Ka band and Ku band reception.
