TL;DR: In this paper, a tire inflation pressure monitor includes wheel transmitters and a receiver, and the receiver includes reception antennas for receiving radio waves from the transmitters, and at least one internal reception antenna, which is located in the receiver unit.
Abstract: A tire inflation pressure monitor includes wheel transmitters and a receiver The wheel transmitters transmit tire inflation pressure data by radio waves, and the receiver receives the data from the transmitters The receiver includes reception antennas for receiving radio waves from the transmitters and a receiver unit for processing the received data The reception antennas include external reception antennas, which are separated from the receiver unit, and at least one internal reception antenna, which is located in the receiver unit The number of the external reception antennas is less than that of the transmitters by one As a result, the receiver is simplified without reducing its performance Also, a loop antenna, which is used as a reception antenna to induce voltage by the magnetic field component of radio waves, improves the efficiency of the receiver

TL;DR: In this article, a class of wideband transmit arrays (TAs), composed of cascaded anisotropic impedance surfaces (AISs), for circularly polarized (CP) multibeam generation from a single feed horn are reported.
Abstract: In this article, a class of wideband transmit arrays (TAs), composed of cascaded anisotropic impedance surfaces (AISs), for circularly polarized (CP) multibeam generation from a single feed horn are reported. The dispersionless phase compensation is achieved by the Berry phase (BP) via imposing a spatially dependent rotation angle on the TA unit cells. A homogenized model for the BPTA unit cell is proposed and utilized for obtaining a wideband response by tailoring the dispersive properties of the AIS layers. Two modeling methods, an analytical vectorial field analysis and a full-wave strategy incorporating the homogenized model, were employed to efficiently evaluate the performance of the BPTAs. In order to validate the proposed unit cell and the modeling methodologies, a Q-band single-beam BPTA is demonstrated, which achieves a peak gain of 30.2 dBi and a 1 dB bandwidth of 11.1% within which the axial ratio is smaller than 2 dB. Furthermore, by employing the intersection approach for pattern synthesis, several Q-band BPTAs supporting multiple concurrent symmetric/asymmetric CP pencil beams and circular-shaped flat-top beams are designed. A BPTA prototype for producing quad CP pencil beams with unequal gain values was fabricated and characterized, yielding good performance with an overall operational bandwidth of about 11%. The proposed BPTAs are promising candidates for point-to-multipoint communication and point-to-multiregional coverage in wideband millimeter-wave communications for wireless and satellite applications.

01 Sep 2015TL;DR: In this article, a broadband dielectrically loaded quad-ridged feed horn for illuminating reflector antennas is presented, which exhibits a directivity of 12dB±1.5 and a measured return loss of greater than 14dB across the frequency band.
Abstract: We present a broadband dielectrically loaded quad-ridged feed horn for illuminating reflector antennas. The feed horn combines a central dielectric spear with a corrugated skirt to achieve a near constant beam width over a 6:1 bandwidth from 0.7–4.2GHz. The feed accepts two linear polarizations which are differentially fed. We present the directivity of the feed measured in an anechoic chamber. The feed exhibits a directivity of 12dB±1.5 and a measured return loss of greater than 14dB across the frequency band.

TL;DR: In this article, a new horn antenna profile based on Gaussian techniques offers the best solution when the requirements related to the radiation pattern are very stringent, and a particular design of a GPHA for HISPASAT 1C and now also valid for the new HISPAT 1D satellite is presented, showing the excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental results.
Abstract: A new horn antenna profile is presented. This new profile based on Gaussian techniques offers the best solution when the requirements related to the radiation pattern are very stringent. Short-horn antennas with high-conversion efficiency to a fundamental Gaussian beam, and therefore, very low sidelobe and cross-pol levels in a wide-frequency band, could be obtained by using the design technique presented here. Once the theoretical principles of the Gaussian profiled horn antennas (GPHA) are presented, some other possibilities involving Gaussian profiles are studied and compared with their conventional counterparts. Finally, as an example of the design technique proposed, a particular design of a GPHA for HISPASAT 1C and now also valid for the new HISPASAT 1D satellite is presented, showing the excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental results.

TL;DR: In this article, a dual-band feed for reflector antennas is presented, which is a combination of a novel circular eleven feed for C band and a compact choke horn for Ku band.
Abstract: A novel dual-band feed for reflector antennas is presented. This feed is a combination of a novel circular Eleven feed for C band and a compact choke horn for Ku band. The combined feed has been characterized in terms of total feed efficiency of reflector antenna and coupling coefficient of C and Ku bands (< -18 dB) over all operating frequencies. An experimental model has been manufactured and measured. The measured results agree well with the simulated ones. The dual-band feed is compact in size and can be a good candidate for satellite terminals and other applications.
