TL;DR: An offset paraboloidal reflector illuminated by a balanced feed horn constitutes an efficient launcher for coupling microwaves into quasioptical beams and measurements on a launcher with low blockage show low cross polarization.
Abstract: An offset paraboloidal reflector illuminated by a balanced feed horn constitutes an efficient launcher for coupling microwaves into quasioptical beams Measurements on a launcher with low blockage show low cross polarization The amplitude, phase, and polarization characteristics are predicted by two gaussian beam modes, and the resulting formulas are found to agree well with measurements at 19 and 28 GHz For example, with increasing offset angles, the ratio of the maximum cross-polarized signal in the radiation pattern to the on-axis co-polarized signal is observed to vary from −44 to −37 dB, within 1 dB of the predicted variation

TL;DR: In this paper, the design and optimization of high-power microwave (HPM) feed horn by combining the aperture fleld with radiation patterns are presented, and the power capacity of the compact HPM horn has been demonstrated by HPM experiments to be higher than 3GW.
Abstract: Design and optimization of high-power microwave (HPM) feed horn by combining the aperture fleld with radiation patterns are presented in the paper. The optimized feed horn in C band satisfles relatively uniform aperture fleld, power capacity higher than 3GW, symmetric radiation patterns, low sidelobes, and compact length. Cold tests and HPM experiments were conducted to investigate the radiation patterns and power capacity of the horn. The theoretical radiation patterns are consistent with the cold test and HPM experimental results. The power capacity of the compact HPM horn has been demonstrated by HPM experiments to be higher than 3GW.

TL;DR: In this paper, a distribution unit and an antenna unit for a radio frequency transmitter arrangement for a magnetic resonance apparatus has been presented, where the antenna unit, to generate radio frequency fields, is fashioned in at least two orthogonal modes, and the distribution unit is fashioned for the division of an RF transmission signal into at least 2 mode feed signals.
Abstract: A radio frequency transmitter arrangement for a magnetic resonance apparatus has a distribution unit and an antenna unit, wherein the antenna unit, to generate radio frequency fields, is fashioned in at least two orthogonal modes, and the distribution unit is fashioned for the division of an RF transmission signal into at least two mode feed signals. At least one adjustment unit is provided to adjust the amplitude and/or phase of one of the mode feed signals and is connected with the antenna unit such that each of the mode feed signals generates a radio frequency field in one of the modes. A multiple transmitter arrangement has at least two radio frequency transmitter arrangements and at least two 180° hybrids. A method is provided to determine at least one setting parameter of the adjustment unit.

TL;DR: In this paper, a low-profile lens antenna based on multilayer gradient index metamaterials (GIMs) is designed and fabricated, and beam steering is achieved by mechanically changing the location of the feed horn.
Abstract: A low-profile lens antenna based on multilayer gradient index metamaterials (GIMs) is designed and fabricated. The beam steering is achieved by mechanically changing the location of the feed horn. Nonresonant structure is used to construct the GIMs, so the metamaterial can work in broadband with negligible intrinsic loss. Standard printed circuit board techniques are used to fabricate the prototype. The diameter of the prototype is 98 mm, and the thickness is 17 mm. The antenna is designed to work in the Ku-band, with aperture efficiencies up to 74% and 65% at 12.5 and 14.25 GHz, respectively. The antenna gain drops about 2.5 dB when the beam scans to 40°. The sidelobe level is lower than −10 dB within the scanning range. The prototype confirms the feasibility of using metamaterials technology for achieving high-efficiency and broadband beam-steering antenna, which holds great promise for applications in on-the-move satellite communication.
