TL;DR: An improved feed horn for use with long f/D reflector antennae comprising an aperture having a plurality of protuberances orthogonally disposed around the periphery thereof, a conical section, a waveguide transition section and an impedance matching section was proposed in this article.

25 Oct 1991TL;DR: In this article, a multiple beam antenna system with three dielectric lenses between a feed horn cluster connected to a beam forming network and an objective collimator is proposed to reduce the sidelobes of the far field pattern of transmitted beams.
Abstract: A multiple beam antenna system may be constructed for reducing a spillover loss n efficiency, improving beam crossover, and reducing undesired sidelobes by the addition of three dielectric lenses between a feed horn cluster connected to a beam forming network and an objective collimator. The system includes a beam forming network including a plurality of feed horns in a feed horn cluster, an objective, and an imaging lens having a lateral magnification less than unity for focusing a reduced image of the feed horn cluster at a predetermined point in space. A field lens is positioned at that predetermined point in space, and an amplitude shaping lens is positioned between the field lens and the objective. The amplitude shaping lens redirects the rays of the image transmitted by the field lens to be denser in the central region of the objective, and reduce the sidelobes of the far field pattern of the transmitted beams.

TL;DR: An apparatus, system, method, and computer program product for determining a location of at least an image of a transmitter transmitting a signal is disclosed in this paper, where the location of the image of the transmitter is determined by receiving a signal transmitted by the transmitter at at least three receiver antennas separated by known distances.
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method, and computer program product for determining a location of at least an image of a transmitter transmitting a signal is disclosed. The location of at least the image of the transmitter is determined by receiving a signal transmitted by the transmitter at at least three receiver antennas separated by known distances. Differences in time are then determined between receipt of the signal at one of the receiver antennas and at least two other receiver antennas. The known distances and the determined differences in receipt times are then processed to determine the location of the transmitter.

03 Dec 2015TL;DR: A recently conducted channel measurement campaign is introduced which makes use of a direction-scanning-sounding technique to study channel characteristics of 28 GHz millimeter-wave propagation in indoor environments and investigates the relationship between the beamwidth of antenna and r.m.s. delay spread characteristics.
Abstract: Millimeter-wave propagation characteristics and channel models are being recently studied for applicability of the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems. To overcome the larger path loss on the higher frequency band above 6 GHz, highly directive antennas or beamforming techniques using large array antennas can be used to establish a reliable communication link between a transmitter and a receiver. In this paper, a recently conducted channel measurement campaign is introduced which makes use of a direction-scanning-sounding technique to study channel characteristics of 28 GHz millimeter-wave propagation in indoor environments. The measurement campaign has been conducted in passenger terminals at Seoul Railway Station and Incheon International Airport, which are representative indoor hotspot regions in Korea. Based on our experimental data, we investigate the relationship between the beamwidth of antenna and r.m.s. delay spread characteristics.

25 May 1967TL;DR: In this paper, current flow is suppressed on the outer surface of the horn except in a small endmost region, where a reflector surrounds the horn, spaced rearwardly from the mouth.
Abstract: Current-flow is suppressed on the outer surface of the horn except in a small endmost region. A reflector surrounds the horn, spaced rearwardly from the mouth. A choke used for the suppression blocks current-flow between the horn and the reflector. A high degree of uniformity of the radiation pattern over a wide forward angle is achieved.
