Abstract: In this paper, we measured what influence the sinusoidal transmission characteristics of the electric power line with various forms gave to the transmission characteristic of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signal through PLC (power line communication system) modem. The electric power line transmission line with various forms in a real environment is classified into two basic elements, which are an outlet type branch and a switch type branch. Next, PHY rate (Physical rate) is measured for each basic element connected with the PLC modem. At this time, the transmission characteristics of the electric power line are simulated from measured data. OFDM sending and receiving systems are composed on the computer, and the PHY rate is simulated. By comparing with measured and calculated values, it is revealed that PHY rate of PLC modem is most affected in the case of the power line transmission characteristics having broad band and high level attenuation and is not affected in the case of that having narrow band group delay variation.

TL;DR: In this article, a quasi-circulator was proposed to couple the antenna to both the co-located receiver and the transmitter, which can also be used to couple several transceivers to a single antenna.
Abstract: A multi-coupler system for isolating radio signals in a transceiver, that includes a transmitter and a receiver, to permit simultaneous transmit by the transmitter and receive by the receiver through a single antenna in the exact same or nearby frequency ranges This is done so that in-coming receive signals, transmitted from a remotely located radio, being detected by the receiver is much stronger than the portion of the transmit signal unintentionally coupled over by the co-site (or co-located) transmitter The invention uses a special electronic circuit, termed the quasi-circulator, to couple the antenna to both the co-located receiver and the transmitter The invention can also be used to couple several transceivers to a single antenna The quasi-circulator circuit includes a simulated antenna load with an impedance matched to the antenna impedance The circuit also includes a transformer with its primary side fed asymmetrically by the antenna so that it can pass the desired receive signal with minimum attenuation The transformer's primary is on the other hand fed symmetrically from both sides by equally small portions of the transmit power from the co-site transmitter, but these signals are 180 degrees out of phase and cancel almost completely in the transformer

Abstract: The development of a small electrical antenna plays an important role in the rapidly growing mobile communication market. This paper presents the design of a novel small and wideband planar inverted F-antenna that simultaneously covers the GSM900/GPS/DCS1800/DCS1900/IMT2000/WLAN/DMB service bands. A very wide impedance-bandwidth characteristic was achieved by optimizing both the distance between the feed line and short strip and the width of a short strip. The commercial electromagnetic software CST Microwave Studio is used to design the structure. The maximum gains at the frequencies of 915, 1850, 2025, and 2450 MHz were 1.79, 3.56, 3.65, and 1.67 dBi, respectively. TL;DR: This paper proposes a ULPD antenna with an excellent impedance matching and a coaxial feed built within the antenna structure so that the external match and a balun are not required.
Abstract: This study is devoted to a half-wave dipole with a conductor plane at a distance much smaller than a quarter wavelength which we designate as an ultra low profile dipole (ULPD) antenna in this paper. The concerns of ULPD antenna are the feeding method and the impedance matching, because the input impedance usually tends to be lowered by the existence of a metallic structure in its proximity. In this paper, we propose a ULPD antenna with an excellent impedance matching and a coaxial feed built within the antenna structure so that the external matching and a balun are not required. A coaxial cable is used as a feed line and extended to be a half of a half wavelength dipole. The other half is made up of a parasitic element, which is connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial radiator. To make a matching, the outer conductor of the coaxial radiator is stripped off at a suitable length, and the total length of a dipole is considered for its resonance at a desired frequency of 2 GHz. The experiment has been conducted. The results show the return loss of -27 dB and the maximum gain of 9 dBi in the normal direction to the conductor plane. The computational results are also obtained, which agree well with the experimental results.

Abstract: The embodiments contemplate a printed circuit board of at least two layers for providing remote wireless communication between a wireless device and a unit, as well as methods of creating an omni-directional radiation pattern for transmitting/receiving information using a notch antenna formed in the printed circuit board having radio frequency circuitry. The notch antenna, with a closed and opened end, may be etched or embedded into a ground plane conductor on a first layer of the board. A transmission line positioned on the bottom surface of a second layer of the board crosses under the portion of the board containing the notch antenna. A first and second intermediate layer electrically connected between the first layer and the second layer may serve as return ground planes for the transmission line. A capacitive circuit, positioned in series with the transmission line and across the notch antenna, functions to reduce and/or eliminate inductance of the transmission line.

Abstract: A reconfigurable circularly polarized antenna is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a microstrip feed line, a ground plane with two slots, and a radiation patch. Bifurcating the microstrip feed line into two branches allows the polarization to be switched by opening and shorting the termination of the line using an anti-parallel diode pair. The design of the proposed feed structure for polarization-diversity operation is discussed, and switching between right- and left-handed circular polarization (CP) is demonstrated with cross-polarization discrimination of greater than 30 dB. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
