Abstract: An analysis is made of stimulated Raman emission (STRE) in an optical resonator filled inhomogeneously with the active component of a dispersive medium. Conditions are found for the effective parametric interaction of various Stokes (anti-Stokes) STRE components and the influence of this interaction on the phase relationship of the components is investigated. The possibility of a stable locking of the components is demonstrated whereby the total radiation output from the resonator is a regular sequence of subpicosecond (femtosecond) light pulses. An expression is derived for the locking band of two generated Stokes components and a prediction is made of the frequency modulation of the second Stokes component outside this band. Attention is drawn to the experimental possibility of the locking of the STRE components being manifest as the disappearance of their frequency modulation.

TL;DR: In this article, the main approacues in designing of PIE-type multistage image-converter tubes (TOT) aimed to considerably improve their temporal and spatial resolution in the linear streak mode, are outlined on the basis of carried out experiments and theoretical estimations.
Abstract: The main approacues in designing of PIE-= type multistage image-converter tubes (TOT) aimed to considerably improve their temporal and spatial resolution in the linear streak mode, are outlined on the basis of carried out experiments and theoretical estimations. Shown are the basic models of the high-speed image tubes developed for application in laser and laser plasma researches. Further progress is made in the mode-beats technique utilization for the ICT dynamic parameters definition. The specific features of the double -frequency neodymium-glass lasers are discussed. Some results are presented of the ICT "temporal" modulation transfer function measurements. Uew trends in high-speed ICT development are also suggested.
