TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider internationalization as a process of field crossing and apply this framework to nascent international entrepreneurs, finding that social networks can be hostile to newcomers and that incumbents in those networks first assess newcomers' compatibility.

TL;DR: In this article, scenarios and challenges of the university in the knowledge economy are analyzed, considering their insertion in the broader field of higher education formed by the plurality of actors and institutions interested in its dynamics.
Abstract: In this article, scenarios and challenges of the university in the knowledge economy are analyzed, considering their insertion in the broader field of higher education formed by the plurality of actors and institutions interested in its dynamics. The notion of field formulated by Pierre Bourdieu is an important theoretical and methodological construct for the analysis of higher education in contemporary society. Historically, the university has revealed itself as a gateway and a privileged space to build paths and solutions to challenges presented, over time, to society. In the globalized world, the university operates in a field of uncertainties and contradictions, at the same time as it constitutes an indisputable component for the development of the countries' political project. In the competitive contemporary higher education the concept of world-class universitie has been disputed and built based on global standards and criteria directly associated with the classifications made by international rankings.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide an analysis of the traditional approach to mentorship, support, and feedback, and highlight new challenges with in-person mentorship and support, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Abstract: Using digital technologies to remotely observe and mentor teachers is a relatively new practice. Thus, many states, schools, and districts do not have policies in place that explicitly allow this practice, and, in some instances, policies are in place that explicitly prohibit the use of these technologies. This chapter provides an analysis of the traditional approach to mentorship, support, and feedback, and highlights new challenges with in-person mentorship, support, and feedback amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As with many aspects of current newly adapted world, the teaching profession has become increasingly reliant on using digital technologies to remotely observe and mentor teachers. The chapter provides a literature review of best practices in observation, mentorship, and feedback. It also shows that limited data are available to facilitate the use of digital technologies and provide novice and in-service teacher support in order to allow for a positive novice teacher induction experience.

TL;DR: This chapter discusses possible solutions to promote an effective integration of the user perspective in R&D projects based on six interviews with experts from Germany.
Abstract: The importance of robotics and assistive technologies for healthcare is increasing. For their introduction into practical application, the continuous integration of the user perspective is crucial to ensure acceptance and usability. This can be achieved by the user-centered design approach. In an earlier publication, several problems with its functional implementation within research and development (R&D) projects were pointed out. This chapter discusses possible solutions to promote an effective integration of the user perspective in R&D projects based on six interviews with experts from Germany. The results can be summarized in three main requirements: first, the generation of a common understanding of the target group; second, a scientific research approach considering the context of technology usage; third, projectification, with a focus on efficient resource planning, the development of generic technologies, and technology evaluations with the user group. Leaders of innovative projects can benefit from implementing these strategies in the development process.

TL;DR: The concept of "diplomacy" is a concept that is usually associated with the International Relations field and, consequently, it is in that context that it is commonly considered to have been used and known as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: “Diplomacy” is a concept that is usually associated with the International Relations (IR) field and, consequently, it is in that context that it is commonly considered to have been used and known. On the other hand, the concept of “diplomacy” is repeatedly and somehow misused as it is considered to be synonymous with foreign policy or international politics. However, the concept can be approached from different angles within the Social Sciences, such as Political Science and Strategic Studies, beyond the traditional view of International Relations.

TL;DR: The authors conducted interviews with editors and editorial board members of the journal Ecological Economics to explore the field's perceived strengths and the values pursued through its research, concluding that the field should pursue the scientific values of consistency, societal relevance, and novelty.
