TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a system for producing "unnatural" flavonoids and stilbenes in Escherichia coli, which included a substrate synthesis step for CoA esters synthesis from carboxylic acids by 4-coumarate:CoA ligase, a polyketide synthesis stage for conversion of the co-a esters into flavanones, and a modification step for modification of the flavanone by flavone synthase, flavone 3beta-hydroxylase and flavonol synthase.

TL;DR: Preclinical studies and clinical trials demonstrated therapeutical effects of hesperidin and its aglycone hesperetin in various diseases, such as neurological disorders, psychiatric disorders, and cardiovascular diseases and others, due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, lipid-lowering, and insulin-sensitizing properties.
Abstract: Hesperidin, a member of the flavanone group of flavonoids, can be isolated in large amounts from the rinds of some citrus species Considering the wide range of pharmacological activities and widespread application of hesperidin, this paper reviews preclinical and clinical trials of hesperidin and its related compounds, including their occurrence, pharmacokinetics, and some marketed products available Preclinical studies and clinical trials demonstrated therapeutical effects of hesperidin and its aglycone hesperetin in various diseases, such as neurological disorders, psychiatric disorders, and cardiovascular diseases and others, due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, lipid-lowering, and insulin-sensitizing properties

TL;DR: A four-step flavanone biosynthetic pathway was constructed and introduced into Saccharomyces cerevisiae and produced the flavanones naringenin and pinocembrin 62 and 22 times more efficiently compared to previously reported recombinant prokaryotic strains.
Abstract: A four-step flavanone biosynthetic pathway was constructed and introduced into Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The recombinant yeast strain was fed with phenylpropanoid acids and produced the flavanones naringenin and pinocembrin 62 and 22 times more efficiently compared to previously reported recombinant prokaryotic strains. Microbial biosynthesis of the flavanone eriodictyol was also achieved.

TL;DR: Sixteen flavanones, three flavanonols, and four pterocarpans isolated from the MeOH extract of the roots of Sophora flavescens exhibited significant antibacterial activities against the Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, S. epidermidis, and Propionibacterium acnes.
Abstract: Sixteen flavanones, three flavanonols, and four pterocarpans were isolated from the MeOH extract of the roots of Sophora flavescens. Twelve of these were new compounds, including eight prenylflavanones (1-8), one prenylflavanonol (9) and three novel pterocarpane derivatives (10-12). Their structures were elucidated using NMR and mass spectral methods. Some of these compounds have irregular C10 prenyl moieties at C-8 of the flavanone skeleton. These compounds exhibited significant antibacterial activities against the Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, S. epidermidis, and Propionibacterium acnes. They also exhibited antiandrogen activities.

TL;DR: In this paper, the flavanone eriodictyol 7-O - β -glucuronide (1 ) together with the quercetin derivatives 3- O -(6″- O- β -arabinosyl- β-glucoside) (2 ), 3 O - (6″)-α-rhamnosyl-β -galactoside (5 ) and 3 O-(6''- β −glucosaide (6'') were detected in the fruits and flower umbels.
