Abstract: In a folding type telephone apparatus of folding type comprising a first housing and a second housing rotatably connected by a hinge, electric components and printed circuit boards of respective housings are connected by an electrical connecting member of a tape shaped flexible printed circuit which is wound at least two times around a shaft of the hinge. Using the wound electrical connecting member maintains a reliable electrical connection between the housings even after the telephone apparatus has been used for a long time.

Abstract: A printed circuit board assembly is disclosed which includes a number of rigid printed circuit boards connected by a number of flexible printed circuit panels. Integrated circuits and similar components are mounted on the rigid printed circuit boards. The components are interconnected by printed circuit conductors of the rigid printed circuit boards and the flexible printed circuit panels. The resulting board assembly can provide a manifold increase in the usable component area over a single flat, rigid printed circuit board when it is folded and installed into a standard cylindrical, coolant filled container.

TL;DR: An origami printed circuit board as mentioned in this paper is a rigid printed circuit with a flexible conducting back secured to the bottom of the circuit board, where the flexible back is constructed of alternating layers of flexible dielectric and conducting layers bonded together where the conducting layers may include copper.
Abstract: An origami printed circuit board comprises a rigid printed circuit board having a flexible conducting back secured to the bottom of the circuit board. The flexible back is constructed of alternating layers of flexible dielectric and conducting layers bonded together, where the conducting layers may include copper. The circuit board is then grooved in a predetermined manner with the grooves extending through the rigid circuit board, but not extending into the flexible conducting back. The entire circuit board/flexible back is then folded along the grooves in origami fashion to form an enclosure, or other designed shape, with the flexible back forming the outer walls of the shape. By coupling the electronic elements of the circuit board to the conducting layers of the flexible back, the flexible conducting back includes electronic circuit printed interconnections on the rigid board. A bottom conducting layer of the flexible back may be uncoupled to the electronic elements of the circuit board. When the origami printed circuit board is folded into shape, the bottom layer forms the board's outer wall and creates an EMI/TEMPEST shield. The shield also isolates RF frequency emissions.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for producing a hybrid multi-layered circuit substrate which utilizes prefabricated flexible printed circuit(s) which are rigidized in areas which define high density hybrid circuits is presented.
Abstract: A method for producing a hybrid multi-layered circuit substrate which utilizes prefabricated flexible printed circuit(s) which are rigidized in areas which define high density hybrid circuits. The hybrid circuit regions are formed by disposing copper-lined sheets on both surfaces of the flexible circuit, adhesively bonding the copper-lined sheets to the flexible circuit, forming through-hole conductors and etching a circuit pattern in the copper layer of the lined sheets. The copper-lined sheets are initially general coextensive in size and shape with the flexible circuit and are subsequently severed so that the copper-lined sheets remain only in the hybridized portions of the product. Separation is achieved by mechanically punching along predetermined boundaries and is facilitated by providing either any elongated narrow through-hole at the boundary of the hybrid circuit from which the flexible circuit will extend the end product or by forming a groove in the copper-lined sheets at such boundary.

TL;DR: The precision infrared position detector apparatus as mentioned in this paper uses an information display device that has a substantially cylindrical shaped screen to limit curvature of the screen to a single dimension and aligns the row of infrared light sources and detectors along the same curvature as the screen of the display device.
Abstract: The precision infrared position detector apparatus uses an information display device that has a substantially cylindrical shaped screen to limit curvature of the screen to a single dimension. In addition, to compensate for this curvature, a flexible printed circuit board is used to align the row of infrared light sources and detectors along the same curvature as the screen of the information display device. A first flexible printed circuit board is equipped with a single row of infrared light sources while a second flexible printed circuit board is equipped with a signal row of corresponding infrared light detectors. A frame member is used to bend the flexible printed circuit board into a substantially cylindrical shape that matches the curvature of the screen of the information display device. In this manner, the first and second flexible printed circuit boards are placed at opposite ends of the rectangular shaped screen of the information display device to thereby transmit a plurality of parallel beams of infrared light, each of which is a predetermined distance above the screen of the information display device even though the screen of the information display device curves in the shape of a cylinder.

TL;DR: In this article, a flexible printed circuit board with a conductor circuit whose edge section is sharp in shape and high in dimensional accuracy was constructed by a method wherein the thickness of a resist film is not less than ten times as large as the film thickness of an attachedly formed metallic thin-film of the conductor circuit.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a flexible printed circuit board with a conductor circuit whose edge section is sharp in shape and high in dimensional accuracy, by a method wherein the thickness of a resist film is not less than ten times as large as the film thickness of a metallic thin-film of the conductor circuit which is attachedly formed. CONSTITUTION:An unnecessary section for shaping a conductor circuit pattern on the surface of a plastic film substrate 1 is coated with a resist 2, and desired metals 3, 4 are attached onto the surface of the substrate through a physical evaporation method. When the conductor circuit pattern is formed by peeling a resist film, the film thickness of the resist film is not less than ten times as large as the film thickness of an attachedly formed metallic film for a conductor circuit. Accordingly, the metallic film 3 bonded and formed onto the resist film 2 as a mask and the metallic film (a conductor layer) 4 on a film as the conductor circuit are not continued, thus acquiring a conductor circuit layer, an edge section of which is sharpened, after peeling the resist film.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance not only the detection accuracy of the circuit flow of a printed wiring board but also efficiency, by detecting the circuit flaw by an optical pattern inspection apparatus while a roll of flexible, printed wiring board is taken up and moved. CONSTITUTION:A roll of flexible printed circuit board 1 is an intermediate product being the continuous body of a large number of printed wiring boards 3 each consisting of a circuit 3a formed from a copper foil by an etching method and a base film 2. This printed wiring board 1 is fed out from an automatic feed-out part 7 to be taken up by an automatic take-up part 8 but passes between a floodlight projector 4 and a light receiving inspection head 5 on the way of taking-up. At this time, the image of the circuit due to transmitted light is sent to an image processing circuit 10 and a negative image subjected to the extraction of a characteristic is compared with the pattern data of a good product. As a result, when the inferior place of the circuit is detected, said place is marked in a making part 6.

TL;DR: In this paper, a flexible printed circuit board is fixed on one plane of a printed circuit boards arranged in parallel with the loading/unloading direction of a keyboard arranged in a device and connecting the other side to the keyboard.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a flexible printed circuit board from being damaged by fixing one side of the flexible printed circuit board on one plane of a printed circuit board arranged in parallel with the loading/unloading direction of a keyboard arranged in a device and connecting the other side to the keyboard. CONSTITUTION:A 1st flexible printed sheet 5 constituting the flexible printed circuit board 10, a spacer 6 and the end part of a 2nd flexible printed sheet 7 are respectively connected to 1st-3rd connectors 9, 11, 12 fitted to the upper face of the printed circuit board 8. The other end of the board 10 is fixed on the upper face of a printed circuit board 4 constituting the keyboard 3. The extruding direction of the board 10 at a fixed point on the board 8 by a clamp 14 is the same as the moving direction of the keyboard 3 loaded into an information processor body and the fixing part is prevented from the application of concentrated stress.
