TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed analytical procedures for adjusting estimates of the flexural properties of 2-inch-thick Douglas-fir dimension lumber that would be applicable to all levels of the flexible properties.
Abstract: Current procedures for adjusting estimates of the mechanical properties of lumber for changes in moisture content are based on trends in the observed means The present study was initiated to develop analytical procedures for adjusting estimates of the flexural properties of 2-inch-thick Douglas-fir dimension lumber that would be applicable to all levels of the flexural properties Equations are derived for adjusting modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), moment capacity (RS = MOR x section modulus), and flexural stiffness (EI = MOEX moment of inertia) for changes in moisture content The best of these equations are found to be significantly more accurate than current procedures for adjusting estimates of strength properties such as MOR and RS Because MOE and EI are less affected by changes in moisture content, most of the equations work well for these properties

TL;DR: In this paper, several closed-form solutions for the buckling eigenvalue problem of columns with variable flexural rigidity along the axis are presented. But they do not consider the case where the column is either under uniformly distributed axial load or under concentrated compressive load.
Abstract: This paper furnishes several closed-form solutions for the buckling eigenvalue problem of the columns with variable flexural rigidity along the axis. The column is either under uniformly distributed axial load or under concentrated compressive load.

TL;DR: In this paper, the glass fiber reinforced polymer (GRFP) bars have been used as reinforcements in concrete protective structures to replace the steel bars, and the residual load capacity of each beam has been evaluated, which quantitatively reveals the damage degree of the exploded concrete beams.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for simultaneous determination of bending hysteresis and the flexural rigidity of textile or other flexible materials over a wide range of curvatures is described.
Abstract: A new experimental method is described that permits the simultaneous determination of bending hysteresis and the flexural rigidity of textile or other flexible materials over a wide range of curvatures. Results are presented that show the variation of these two properties with material, fabric structure, and fabric finish. It is shown that results obtained with this method are in good agreement with those obtained by established methods.

TL;DR: In this paper, the modulus of rigidity of wood-based panels was measured by the dynamic plate shear method, which involves measuring the torsional vibration of free, square plates.
Abstract: The modulus of rigidity of wood-based panels was measured by the dynamic plate shear method. This involves measuring the torsional vibration of free, square plates. The proposed equation to calculate modulus of rigidity was found to agree within ±5% of the experimentally determined values. The experimentally determined modulus of rigidity values were very close to moduli determined by other techniques.
