TL;DR: Coherent vacuum-ultraviolet pulses with energy of 1.1 mJ, 2.2-nsec pulse length, and measured bandwidth ≤0.1 cm−1 have been achieved at 130 nm from four-wave mixing in Hg vapor, and conversion efficiencies of 5% have been demonstrated.
Abstract: Coherent vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) pulses with energy of 1.1 mJ, 2.2-nsec pulse length (2 MW cm−2 unfocused), and measured bandwidth ≤0.1 cm−1 have been achieved at 130 nm from four-wave mixing in Hg vapor. Conversion efficiencies of 5% have been demonstrated in a collimated beam geometry over 1-m interaction lengths. These high efficiencies are made possible by using two-photon-resonant sum-frequency mixing through the Hg 71S level. The experimental facility assembled to produce this efficient VUV source is described, and a comparison between experimental measurements and theory is provided.

TL;DR: In this article, the first observation of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) with lasing was reported at the frequency of 1.4 GHz with a threshold power of 0.45$ mW.
Abstract: We report the first observation of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) with Brillouin lasing, and Brillouin-coupled four-wave-mixing (FWM) in an ultra-high-Q silica microbottle resonator. The Brillouin lasing was observed at the frequency of $\Omega_B=2\pi\times10.4$ GHz with a threshold power of $0.45$ mW. Coupling between Brillouin and FWM was observed in both backward and forward scattering directions with separations of $2\Omega_B$. At a pump power of $10$ mW, FWM spacing reached to 7th and 9th order anti-Stokes and Stokes, respectively.

21 Feb 1999TL;DR: In this article, the relative impact of four-wave mixing (FWM) and cross phase modulation (XPM) on WDM transmission was investigated by treating them as noiselike impairments.
Abstract: The relative impact of four-wave mixing (FWM) and cross phase modulation (XPM) is investigated by treating them as noiselike impairments We show that XPM affects wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) transmission more strongly than FWM for the range of fiber parameters investigated

TL;DR: Generation of four-wave mixing enhanced by electromagnetically induced transparency and optical pumping in a ladder-type atomic system and interference between these two nonlinear wave-mixing signals is experimentally demonstrated.
Abstract: We report generation of four-wave mixing enhanced by electromagnetically induced transparency and optical pumping in a ladder-type atomic system. When two pumping laser beams are used to form a conjugate small-angle static grating, both four-wave and six-wave mixing processes are shown to exist at the same time. Interference between these two nonlinear wave-mixing signals is experimentally demonstrated.
