TL;DR: In this paper, a billing telephone call to a 900 telephone number associated with the ISP for information and/or interactive services provided to a user over the Internet by an information service provider (ISP) is arranged by the user by placing a bill telephone call, which is determined by the ISP, represents the charge for receiving the information or interactive services from the ISP and is billed to the user's telephone number account.
Abstract: Billing for information and/or interactive services provided to a user over the Internet by an information service provider (ISP) is arranged by the user by placing a billing telephone call to a 900 telephone number associated with the ISP for such billing purposes. The cost to the user for the 900 number billing telephone call, which is determined by the ISP, represents the charge for receiving the information and/or interactive services from the ISP, and is billed to the user's telephone number account. The ISP's 900 number account is credited by the telephone company for the call and thus for the information and/or interactive services provided.

TL;DR: In this article, an enhanced system and method for network implementation to facilitate network users' access to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) is provided for a telephony environment, where a central office switch receives a request from a telephone subscriber and suspends processing of the call pending receipt of routing instructions from a service control point.
Abstract: An enhanced system and method is provided for network implementation to facilitate network users' access to an Internet Service Provider. The system and method employ an approach whereby a network user may initiate an Internet access request from the user's network interface (e.g., personal computer) and the Internet access service provider (ISAP) may in turn select a station number corresponding with one of a plurality of different Internet Service Providers to provide the desired Internet access. The system and method are particularly apt for use in a telephony environment. In such environment, a central office switch receives a request from a telephony subscriber and suspends processing of the call pending receipt of routing instructions from a service control point. Such service control point selects the telephone number for an ISP from a listing of ISP telephone numbers corresponding with a plurality of different ISPs. Such number is provided to the central office switch to complete call processing. E-mail messaging may be advantageously controlled by an ISAP processor/memory module.

TL;DR: In order to support the INetPhone and lay down the ground rules of the service, a scheme of "open partnership" is proposed, so that the entire Internet community can have the equal opportunity and benefits from the INETPhone service.
Abstract: INETPhone is a true telephone service through the Internet. It integrates the local telephone networks and the Internet using INETPhone servers. Thus a long distance call can be split into two local calls and an Internet connection, which is transparent to end users. Such a phone service through Internet will be a major step towards integrated services on Internet. In order to support the INETPhone and lay down the ground rules of the service, a scheme of "open partnership" is proposed, so that the entire Internet community can have the equal opportunity and benefits from the INETPhone service.

TL;DR: In this article, a calling service is provided within a conventional Internet operating environment wherein client machines connect to the Internet via an Internet service provider (ISP), the ISP provides Internet access to the users for a time-based or usage-based service fee.
Abstract: A calling service is provided within a conventional Internet operating environment wherein client machines connect to the Internet via an Internet service provider (ISP). The ISP provides Internet access to the users for a time-based or usage-based service fee. According to the invention, a client machine user is provided an option to make a telephone call to a Web site operator during a browsing session. The charges for the telephone call preferably are invoiced by the ISP (or some third party on the ISP's behalf). Thus, when a user elects to make a “one-click” telephone call to the Web site, the charge for the call preferably shows up on the user's ISP billing statement.

TL;DR: In this article, an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) is used to identify a call as a pre-authorized call so that the ISP grants access without requiring a username and a password from a caller.
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method for providing access to the Internet on a pre-paid or pay-per-use basis that utilizes an Advanced Intelligent Network (“AIN”) to set up a dial up connection between a subscriber and an Internet Service Provider (“ISP”). The telecommunications system communicates with the ISP's computer systems to coordinate verification of callers attempting access to the ISP. The system uses features of the AIN to identify a call as a pre-authorized call so that the ISP grants access without requiring a username and a password from a caller. If the ISP receives a call that is not so identified, the caller is treated as regular ISP subscriber, and requires a username and a password to authenticate the caller prior to granting access to the ISP's resources. The present invention further utilizes the telephone service provider's billing systems to aggregate bills and collect revenue from subscribers. A portion of the revenue is retained by the telephone service provider as a fee for providing the service, and a portion is paid to the ISP as payment for its services.
