TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical model accounting for bending-twisting effects was used to determine the laminate natural frequency, and a global search algorithm, a variant of simulated annealing, was utilized to find the optimal designs for different plate aspect ratios.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a nonlinear dielectric theory to include real and imaginary parts of harmonics of the fundamental frequency and derived an analytical relationship between these permittivities and the kinetic constants of a model protein.
Abstract: A discussion of nonlinear dielectric phenomena and their relationship to freeenergy transduction in biological systems is given. It transpires that the conditions required for observing the nonlinear dielectric behavior of biological membranes can be expected under easily realizable circumstances, and may potentially form the basis for powerful techniques for studying membrane and other proteins in their native environment. We develop a nonlinear dielectric theory, which generalizes the dielectric permittivity to include real and imaginary parts of harmonics of the fundamental frequency. An analytical relationship is derived between these permittivities and the kinetic constants of a model protein. Of special relevance is the occurrence of higher harmonics in the dielectric displacement even when the exciting electric field consists of a single sinusoidal frequency. This is manifested by the analytical result that the corresponding higher order permittivities are in general not equal to zero, as ...

TL;DR: It has previously been demonstrated that the optimal filtering methods perform extremely well with respect to fundamental frequency estimation under adverse conditions, and this fact, combined with the new results on model order estimation and efficient implementation, suggests that these methods form an appealing alternative to classical methods for analyzing multi-pitch signals.
Abstract: Recently, two optimal filter designs for fundamental frequency estimation have been proposed with the first being based on a filterbank and the second on a single filter. The two designs are related in a simple manner and are shown to result in the same residual when used for cancelling out the harmonics of periodic signals. We propose to use this residual for estimating the number of harmonics by combining a noise variance estimate with an order dependent penalty term. This leads to a joint estimator of the fundamental frequency and the order based on the same criterion. Via Monte Carlo simulations, the estimator is demonstrated to have good performance in terms of the percentage of correctly estimated orders.

TL;DR: In this article, a zero-crossing triggered analog-to-digital conversion apparatus combined with Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) digital computing apparatus was used for measurement of waveform fundamental frequency using hitherto disadvantageous leakage of the Discrete Fraction Transform.
Abstract: Waveform frequency measuring apparatus and methods utilizing zero-crossing triggered analog-to-digital conversion apparatus combined with Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) digital computing apparatus accomplish measurement of waveform fundamental frequency using hitherto disadvantageous leakage of the Discrete Fourier Transform. In an example, the frequency measuring apparatus and methods are used in an alternating current (AC) electrical power system for measuring and monitoring frequency deviation Δf from the nominal system frequency f and actuating protective relaying when the frequency deviation is excessive.
