TL;DR: Stabilization of the closed-loop fuzzy system using local parallel distributed compensators is investigated, and connective stability of the open loop and closed loop of the interconnected system is analyzed via the concepts of vector Lyapunov functions and M-matrices.
Abstract: This paper discusses decentralized parallel distributed compensator design for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems. The fuzzy system is viewed as an interconnection of subsystems some of which are strongly connected, while others being weakly connected. The necessary theory is developed so that one can associate this fuzzy system with another one in a higher dimensional space, the so-called expanded space, design decentralized parallel distributed compensators in the expanded space, then contract the solution for implementation on the original fuzzy system. In this respect, connective stability of the open loop and closed loop of the interconnected system is analyzed via the concepts of vector Lyapunov functions and M-matrices. Different Lyapunov functions generate different results for the discrete-time fuzzy system, quadratic Lyapunov generating the superior of the two. Following a similar approach, stabilization of the closed-loop fuzzy system using local parallel distributed compensators is investigated.

TL;DR: There is no single generalization from binary logic to fuzzy logic that is clearly best or correct, and many self-consistent systems have been developed which reduce to 2-valued logic if all parameters are crisp.
Abstract: 30 Years after its introduction, fuzzy logic remains an area of active research. As can be seen from the examples given here, in most instances there is no single generalization from binary logic to fuzzy logic that is clearly best or correct. Many self-consistent systems have been developed which reduce to 2-valued logic if all parameters are crisp. The choice of a model depends at this point on how well each functions in practice. For medical expert systems, the theoretical framework of fuzzy logic provides a rich environment from which to choose. The adequacy of each approach is born out by the success of the model in practice. >

TL;DR: This work considers two classes of fuzzy linear programming (FLP) problems: Fuzzy number linear programming and linear programming with trapezoidal fuzzy variables problems, and develops fuzzy primal simplex algorithms for solving these problems.
Abstract: Fuzzy set theory has been applied to many fields, such as operations research, control theory, and management sciences. We consider two classes of fuzzy linear programming (FLP) problems: Fuzzy number linear programming and linear programming with trapezoidal fuzzy variables problems. We state our recently established results and develop fuzzy primal simplex algorithms for solving these problems. Finally, we give illustrative examples.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the proposed scheme approximates with high accuracy a model nonlinear controller with fewer fuzzy rules than a centralized fuzzy system, and its control performance is comparable to that of a non linear controller.
Abstract: This paper presents a class of hierarchical fuzzy systems where previous layer outputs are used not in IF-parts, but only in THEN-parts of the fuzzy rules of the current layer. The proposed scheme is shown to be a universal approximator to any real continuous function on a compact set if complete fuzzy sets are used in the IF-parts of the fuzzy rules with singleton fuzzifier and center average defuzzifier. From the example of ball-and-beam control system simulation, it is demonstrated that the proposed scheme approximates with high accuracy a model nonlinear controller with fewer fuzzy rules than a centralized fuzzy system, and its control performance is comparable to that of a nonlinear controller.
