TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison between using two different types of air coolers, namely water spraying system and cooling coil, is performed, and the results show that spray coolers are capable of boosting the power and enhancing the efficiency of the gas turbine power plant in a way that is much cheaper than the cooling coils.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the advantageous inverter topologies, taking into account the extremely low stator inductance and possible high-speed bearing types such as ball bearings, air bearings, foil bearings, and magnetic bearings, are given.
Abstract: The latest research in mesoscale drive systems is targeting rotational speeds toward 1 million r/min for a power range of 1-1 kW. Emerging applications for megaspeed drives (MegaNdrives) are to be found in future turbo compressor systems for fuel cells and heat pumps, generators/starters for portable nanoscale gas turbines, printed circuit board drilling and machining spindles, and electric power generation from pressurized gas flow. The selection of the machine type and the challenges involved in designing a machine for megaspeed operation such as the winding concepts, a mechanical rotor design capable of 1 000 000 r/min, the selection of magnetic materials for the stator, and the optimization concerning high-frequency losses and torque density are presented. Furthermore, a review of the advantageous inverter topologies, taking into account the extremely low stator inductance and possible high-speed bearing types such as ball bearings, air bearings, foil bearings, and magnetic bearings, are given. Finally, prototypes and experimental results originating from MegaNdrive research at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich are discussed and extreme temperature operation and power microelectricalmechanical system are identified as targets for future research.

TL;DR: In this article, a thermal power plant with sequential combustion and reduced CO2 emissions is described, which is characterized by a recirculation conduit that feeds at least part of the exhaust gas stream that emerges from the low-pressure turbine stage to a compressor unit and a cooling conduit that separates at least portions of CO2 from the cooling gas stream.
Abstract: The invention relates to a thermal power plant with sequential combustion and reduced CO2 emissions, said plant having the following components that are connected in series by at least one flow channel (S): a combustion intake air compressor unit (1), a first combustion chamber (2), a high-pressure turbine stage (3), a second combustion chamber (4), in addition to a low-pressure turbine stage (5) The second combustion chamber (4) and/or the low-pressure turbine stage (5) can be supplied with a cooling gas stream for cooling purposes The invention also relates to a method for operating a thermal power plant of this type The invention is characterised in that the plant is equipped with a recirculation conduit (6), which feeds at least part of the exhaust gas stream that emerges from the low-pressure turbine stage (5) to a compressor unit (7), a cooling conduit (8), which feeds at least part of the compressed exhaust gas stream that emerges from the compressor unit (7) to the second combustion chamber (4) and/or the low-pressure turbine stage (5) for cooling purposes and a CO2 separation unit (9) that is located in the cooling conduit (8) and that separates at least portions of CO2 from the cooling gas stream

TL;DR: In this paper, a cooperating data compressor, compressed data format, and data decompressor is proposed to compress an input data block (HB) to a compressed data block having the format.
Abstract: A cooperating data compressor, compressed data format, and data decompressor The compressor compresses an input data block (HB) to a compressed data block having the format The decompressor decompresses the compressed data block to restore the original data block The compressor has a direct lookup table (DLT) of 28×N entries, each indexable by N bytes at a current HB location and identifying a target HB location The compressor determines whether a target string at the target HB location matches a current string at the current HB location If they do not match, the compressor outputs a literal representing a datum at the current location If they match, the compressor outputs a vector from the current location to the target string Compression speed is maximized by the direct addressing of the DLT by the current N bytes in the HB Decompression speed is maximized by state machine operation according to literal/vector indicators, special case string length codes, and special case offset codes in the compressed data format
