TL;DR: In this article, a method for loading a compressed fluid, such as natural gas, into and discharging the compressed fluid out of containment is provided, where the compressed fluids are injected into a bottom portion of a container system for storage and/or transport until a target pressure is reached after which gas is withdrawn from an upper portion of the container system at a rate to maintain the target pressure.
Abstract: Methods for loading a compressed fluid, such as natural gas, into and discharging the compressed fluid out of containment are provided. The compressed fluid is injected into a bottom portion of a container system for storage and/or transport until a target pressure is reached after which gas is withdrawn from an upper portion of the container system at a rate to maintain the target pressure while the compressed fluid is injected in the bottom portion. The compressed fluid is cooled through an expansion valve and by refrigerated chillers or by injecting a cold liquid of the same chemical composition as the compressed fluid, such as liquid natural gas, into the compressed fluid prior to injection into the container system. Withdrawal or discharge from the container system to a receiving facility begins with blow down from the bottom portion of the container system without a displacement fluid and continues until pressure falls below an acceptable differential pressure. The discharge stream is passed through a separator and a light gas from the separator is pressurized and injected into an upper portion of the container system to drive the compressed fluid out the bottom. The light gas is pressurized using either a compressor or a heated tank system, where two vessels operate in parallel, trapping and heating the light gas and then discharging to the container system from one while filling the other and alternating the operation between the two.

TL;DR: In this paper, a turbine engine with a single rotor which cooled the engine, functioned as a radial compressor, pushed air through the engine to the ignition point, and acted as an axial turbine for powering the compressor.
Abstract: There has been invented a turbine engine with a single rotor which cools the engine, functions as a radial compressor, pushes air through the engine to the ignition point, and acts as an axial turbine for powering the compressor. The invention engine is designed to use a simple scheme of conventional passage shapes to provide both a radial and axial flow pattern through the single rotor, thereby allowing the radial intake air flow to cool the turbine blades and turbine exhaust gases in an axial flow to be used for energy transfer. In an alternative embodiment, an electric generator is incorporated in the engine to specifically adapt the invention for power generation. Magnets are embedded in the exhaust face of the single rotor proximate to a ring of stationary magnetic cores with windings to provide for the generation of electricity. In this alternative embodiment, the turbine is a radial inflow turbine rather than an axial turbine as used in the first embodiment. Radial inflow passages of conventional design are interleaved with radial compressor passages to allow the intake air to cool the turbine blades.

TL;DR: In this article, a lock detector detects a locked state of a DC motor in a starting stage, and a torque increasing circuit immediately selects a starting sequence pattern of an output torque that is greater in magnitude by one preselected step, and outputs the selected output torque to the starting sequence controller, so that a compressor can be restarted speedily without repeating starting failures.
Abstract: When a lock detector detects a locked state of a DC motor in a starting stage, a torque increasing circuit immediately selects a starting sequence pattern of an output torque that is greater in magnitude by one preselected step, and outputs the selected output torque to a starting sequence controller, so that a compressor can be restarted speedily without repeating starting failures. A compressor, driven by a DC motor, has a shell of an internal pressure approximately equal to the pressure of an inhalation gas. An inverter is provided to make the speed of the DC motor variable. A rotational frequency setting circuit sets the rotational frequency of the DC motor to a frequency that is not greater than the frequency of a commercial power source when the internal temperature of a refrigerator is stabilized. By this construction, the power consumption can be remarkably reduced.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of system resonance on the performance of a linear compressor is investigated under evaporator pressure in the range of 48.3-63.2 and condenser pressure in range of 439.0-573.3
Abstract: This paper presents experimental and numerical results of the dynamic characteristic and COP of a linear compressor in a refrigeration system using R600 refrigerant. The numerical analysis consists of a model and a simulation that includes the linear compressor. In this study, the dynamic characteristic of the natural frequency of the linear compressor is validated by comparing the simulation results with the experimental results. To investigate the effect of system resonance on the performance of linear compressor, COP is evaluated under evaporator pressure in the range of 48.3–63.2 kPa abs, and condenser pressure in the range of 439.0–573.3 kPa abs. Based on the results, the system resonance at the TDC was varied within a range of 3% under the test conditions. COP and its sensitivity were found to vary within 3% according to the operating frequency of the system ranging from 48.5 to 51.5 Hz.

TL;DR: In this paper, an original R22 wall room air conditioner with a cooling capacity of 2.4 kW and energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 3.2 was retrofitted with a compressor of a 20% larger displacement to charge R290 and R1270 for performance experiments.
Abstract: An original R22 wall room air conditioner with a cooling capacity of 2.4 kW and energy efficiency ratio (EER) of 3.2 is retrofitted with a compressor of a 20% larger displacement to charge R290 and R1270 for performance experiments. The results show that for R1270, only adopting a same kind mineral lubricant of higher viscosity would supply 2.4% higher cooling capacity and 0.8% higher EER than those of the original R22 system under normal condition, and for R290, adopting the larger displacement compressor simultaneously would also obtain better performance. Alternative systems all have higher increase rate and greater increment in both cooling capacity and EER than the original R22 system when outdoor temperature decreases. The R1270 system has great increase in cooling capacity and negligible decrease in EER. Refrigerant charge distribution is also investigated and it indicates that the charge within both heat exchangers and compressor ought to be reduced.
