TL;DR: The development of a comprehensive simulation model of a horizontal scroll compressor, which combines a detailed compression process model and an overall compressor model, indicates that the comprehensive scroll compressor model is capable of predicting real compressor behavior and useful to the design and optimization of scroll compressors.
Abstract: This paper presents the development of a comprehensive simulation model of a horizontal scroll compressor, which combines a detailed compression process model (Chen Y., Halm N., Groll E., Braun J. Mathematical modelling of scroll compressors — part I: compression process modeling, International Journal of Refrigeration 2002;25(6):731–750) and an overall compressor model. In the overall model, compressor components are analyzed in terms of nine different elements. Steady state energy balance equations are established applying the lumped capacitance method. In combination with the detailed compression process model, these equations were implemented into computer code and solved recursively. In this way, the temperature and pressure of the refrigerant in different compressor chambers, the temperature distributions in the scroll wraps, and the temperatures of the other compressor elements can be obtained. Thereafter, power consumption and efficiency of the compressor can be calculated. Tests were used to verify the overall model on a macroscopic basis. Using the simulation program based on the overall compressor model, a parametric study of the scroll compressor was performed, and the effects of internal leakage and heat transfer losses were investigated and some preliminary results were obtained. These results indicate that the comprehensive scroll compressor model is capable of predicting real compressor behavior and useful to the design and optimization of scroll compressors.

TL;DR: In this article, a water vehicle-actuated air compressor and a system for utilizing compressed air to operate an electrical generator to generate electricity was described. But the authors did not specify the type of compressed air used.
Abstract: A water vehicle-actuated air compressor and a system are disclosed for utilizing compressed air to operate an electrical generator to generate electricity. The water vehicle-actuated air compressor includes an actuator, a cylinder, and a piston in the cylinder reciprocable in response to actuation of the actuator by the motion of the vehicle through the water for compressing air in the cylinder. The cylinder is provided with a first vent means for introducing air into the cylinder behind the piston during a forward stroke of the piston, a valve-controlled second vent means for introducing air into the cylinder on the other side of the piston during the reverse stroke thereof, and outlet means for supplying air compressed by the piston during the forward stroke thereof to a utilization device. In the system for generating electricity, the air compressor is combined with an electricity generator operated by compressed air to generate electricity and at least one air storage unit coupled between the electricity generator and the outlet means of the cylinder for storing compressed air enroute to the generator. The air storage unit may be supplied with compressed air from other vehicle-actuated air compressors to provide a network for supplying compressed air to the air operated electricity generator.

09 Mar 2000TL;DR: In this paper, an exhaust heat recovery type combined cycle plant having a gas turbine and a steam turbine in combination is operated at a partial load, the gas turbine exhaust is recirculated and returned to the compressor, and the combustion temperature is prevented from being lowered at the partial load.
Abstract: To improve the thermal efficiency when an exhaust heat recovery type combined cycle plant having a gas turbine and a steam turbine in combination is operated at a partial load, the gas turbine exhaust is recirculated and returned to the compressor, and the combustion temperature is prevented from being lowered at the partial load. Preferably, the temperature is maintained constant. In this way, the thermal efficiency during operation at partial load can be improved.
