TL;DR: In this article, an air conditioning system includes a refrigerant circuit, which includes an expansion valve for reducing a pressure of the condensed liquid refrigerant, and an evaporator for evaporating the condensed fluid refrigerant.
Abstract: An air conditioning system includes a refrigerant circuit. The refrigerant circuit includes a compressor for receiving a refrigerant gas and for compressing the refrigerant gas, and a condenser for condensing a portion of the compressed refrigerant gas into a liquid refrigerant. The refrigerant circuit also includes an expansion valve for reducing a pressure of the condensed liquid refrigerant, and an evaporator for evaporating the condensed liquid refrigerant. Moreover, the compressor is driven by an electric motor which controls a rotational speed of the compressor via an inverter, and a temperature of the inverter is decreased by the refrigerant circuit. The system also includes an electric circuit for determining whether a temperature of the inverter is greater than a first predetermined temperature, and an electric circuit for controlling a rotational speed of the compressor. Specifically, when the temperature of the inverter is greater than the first predetermined temperature, the electric circuit decreases the rotational speed of the compressor.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of controlling the airflow into a compression ignition engine having an EGR and a VGT is presented, where the desired compressor mass airflow and exhaust manifold pressure values are generated as a function of the operator-requested fueling rate and engine speed.
Abstract: A method of controlling the airflow into a compression ignition engine having an EGR and a VGT. The control strategy includes the steps of generating desired EGR and VGT turbine mass flow rates as a function of the desired and measured compressor mass airflow values and exhaust manifold pressure values. The desired compressor mass airflow and exhaust manifold pressure values are generated as a function of the operator-requested fueling rate and engine speed. The EGR and VGT turbine mass flow rates are then inverted to corresponding EGR and VGT actuator positions to achieve the desired compressor mass airflow rate and exhaust manifold pressure. The control strategy also includes a method of estimating the intake manifold pressure used in generating the EGR valve and VGT turbine positions.

TL;DR: The experimental results confirmed the validity of the proposed design and analysis scheme of the high-speed BLDC motor and the results were validated by finite element method.
Abstract: This paper describes the design and analysis of a high-speed and high-power density BLDC motor for a 50-kW, 70 000-rpm class centrifugal compressor. Design criteria and power loss analysis of the high-speed machine structure are described by analytical method, and the results are validated by finite element method. And then, the prototype machine has been fabricated and tested. The experimental results confirmed the validity of the proposed design and analysis scheme of the high-speed BLDC motor

TL;DR: In this article, the capacity modulation system of a scroll compressor is described, where the non-orbiting scroll member moves into engagement with the orbiting scroll when the chamber is placed in communication with the discharge chamber.
Abstract: A scroll compressor includes a capacity modulation system. The capacity modulation system has a piston that is connected to the non-orbiting scroll that disengages the non-orbiting scroll from the orbiting scroll when a pressure chamber is placed in communication with the suction chamber of the compressor. The non-orbiting scroll member moves into engagement with the orbiting scroll when the chamber is placed in communication with the discharge chamber. The engagement between the two scrolls is broken when the pressure chamber is placed in communication with fluid from the suction chamber. A solenoid valve controls the communication between the pressure chamber and the suction chamber. By operating the valve in a pulsed width modulated mode, the capacity of the compressor can be infinitely varied between zero and one hundred percent.

TL;DR: In this paper, a turbine cooling supply circuit for a gas turbine engine is disclosed in which the flow of coolant through the engine is directed to minimize temperature rise prior to discharge into the turbine.
Abstract: A turbine cooling supply circuit for a gas turbine engine is disclosed in which the flow of coolant through the engine is directed to minimize temperature rise prior to discharge into the turbine. Bleed air from an impeller stage of a compressor is channeled along a backwall thereof into a cavity disposed radially inwardly of a combustor casing. The cavity is divided by a lightweight tubular member having a circumferentially uniform contour into a non-flow zone proximate the casing and a flow zone proximate a rotor. Maintenance of a high tangential flow component in the bleed flow in the flow zone facilitates discharge of the flow through apertures in a rotor into a bore portion thereof, minimizing work input and temperature rise of the coolant. Further, the coolant is isolated from the hot casing wall and nonuniform structures disposed thereon, thereby reducing heat flux and temperature rise associated with aerodynamic drag caused by increased surface area, nonuniform interruptions in the stationary surface or any combination thereof. Features are incorporated in the tubular member to provide margin against buckling.
