TL;DR: In this article, a heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system for use in an over-the-road or off-road vehicle is provided.
Abstract: A heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system for use in an over-the-road or off road vehicle is provided. The HVAC system may be operated regardless of the operational state of the engine. That is, the HVAC system may be operated to condition the interior compartments of an over-the-road vehicle while the engine is running and while the engine is in a no-idle (off) condition. In general, the HVAC system efficiently shares one or more typical air conditionings components with those already found in the vehicle. In one instance, the HVAC system operates an electrically-driven compressor when a belt-driven compressor is idle. In another case, the HVAC system operates both an electrically-driven compressor and a no-idle condenser when a belt-driven compressor and condenser are idle. In yet another embodiment, the HVAC system shares an evaporator.

TL;DR: In this paper, a controllable, variable displacement, wobble plate compressor with a pivotable wobble-plate driven through an improved drive and support linkage including a universal joint and having its pivot point offset from the axis of the drive shaft.
Abstract: A controlled, variable displacement, wobble plate compressor includes a pivotable wobble plate driven through an improved drive and support linkage including a universal joint and having its pivot point offset from the axis of the drive shaft so that at the "no stroke" position the pistons are all disposed at their top-dead-center positions. The capacity of the compressor is controlled by an improved system for varying the position of the wobble plate.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of controlling the operation of a centrifugal compressor in a water chiller system is presented, where the compressor's capacity is variable by modulating its speed of rotation or by modifying its inlet guide vane's position.
Abstract: A method of controlling the operation of a centrifugal compressor in a water chiller system. The compressor's capacity is variable by modulating its speed of rotation or by modulating its inlet guide vane's position. The water chiller includes an evaporator having a leaving water temperature. The method comprises the steps of: monitoring the leaving water temperature; determining if the leaving water temperature is in a steady state; modulating the compressor capacity by modulating speed of rotation if the leaving water temperature is in a steady state; and modulating the compressor capacity by modulating inlet guide vane position if the leaving water temperature is not in a steady state.

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and method for controlling the temperature of a process tool uses the vaporizable characteristic of a refrigerant that is provided in direct heat exchange relation with the process tool.
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the temperature of a process tool uses the vaporizable characteristic of a refrigerant that is provided in direct heat exchange relation with the process tool. Pressurized refrigerant is provided as both condensed liquid and in gaseous state. The condensed liquid is expanded to a vaporous mix, and the gaseous refrigerant is added to reach a target temperature determined by its pressure. Temperature corrections can thus be made very rapiday by gas pressure adjustments. The process tool and the operating parameters will usually require that the returning refrigerant be conditioned and processed for compatibility with the compressor and other units, so that cycling can be continuous regardless of thermal demands and changes.
