TL;DR: In this article, a method of and welder for welding a corrosion resistant wallpaper alloy to the inside surface of a vessel wall formed from a corrosion susceptible steel sheet after the wallpaper alloy has been affixed to inside to provide an exposed seam of wallpaper alloy extending in a given path.
Abstract: A method of and welder for welding a corrosion resistant, wallpaper alloy to the inside surface of a vessel wall formed from a corrosion susceptible steel sheet after the wallpaper alloy has been affixed to the inside to provide an exposed seam of wallpaper alloy extending in a given path wherein the method and welder comprising moving a welding wire toward the seam, melting and depositing the welding wire onto the seam along the path by a short circuit arc welding process of the type having a welding cycle with a short condition and an arcing condition, which arcing condition constitutes a plasma boost portion with a set peak current level followed by a plasma portion with a current decreasing from said peak current level toward a set background current level with a given time between the plasma boost portion and the short condition andsetting the length of time of the plasma portion of the arcing condition to a value greater than 25% of the given time or greater than 2.0 ms.

TL;DR: In this paper, a neural network system for process monitoring and quality evaluation in gas metal arc welding is presented, which is based on measured and statistically processed data for welding voltage and short circuiting time.
Abstract: To ensure product quality, it is essential to ensure process quality. Thus, early monitoring and detection of process disturbances in welding production lines are of great significance. The present paper introduces a neural network system for process monitoring and quality evaluation in gas metal arc welding. The system is based only on the measured and statistically processed data for welding voltage and short circuiting time. It is a self-organising feature map Kohonen network which can automatically recognise and classify process disturbances occurring during welding.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method for joining the aluminum and the steel by using arc welding without forming a fragile and thick inter-metallic compound layer in joining of dissimilar materials of an aluminum member and a steel member.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain a sound joining part by using arc welding without forming a fragile and thick inter-metallic compound layer in joining of dissimilar materials of an aluminum member 2a and a steel member 2b. SOLUTION: The method for joining the aluminum and the steel is constituted as follows. A solid wire made of an aluminum alloy, to which at least 3-15 wt% of silicon is added, is made as a welding wire 1. The aluminum member 2a, which is made of the aluminum or the aluminum alloy, and the steel member 2b, the surface of which zinc plating or aluminum plating or zinc aluminum alloy plating is applied to, are joined by pulse MIG welding. The joining part on the aluminum member 2a side is molten and joined. The joining part on the steel member 2b side is not molten but is joined by forming a thin inter-metallic compound layer.
