TL;DR: In this article, the loading of rotor support journals, of variable displacement pumps, which is proportional to the theoretical driving torque of the pump, is converted to a fluid pressure, and the fluid pressure is applied to a plunger in opposition to an adjustable load to operate a servo valve to regulate the pump displacement.
Abstract: The loading of rotor support journals, of variable displacement pumps, which is proportional to the theoretical driving torque of the pump, is converted to a fluid pressure which is proportional to the theoretical pump driving torque. The fluid pressure is applied to a plunger in opposition to an adjustable load, to operate a servo valve to regulate the pump displacement. The loading may be varied to provide variations in the pump driving torques to correspond to the torques available from a prime mover under a variety of power settings.

TL;DR: In this article, a portion of the plastic is confined between a rigid central shaft spline and a cup rotatable with the shaft so that the plastic cannot flow without two-dimensional or three-dimensional distortion or tearing, both of which are resisted by the plastic.
Abstract: Gear pump impellers formed of Teflon because of the softness and slipperiness of the material are difficult to connect to a metallic shaft. Yet Teflon is a very good material for gear pump impellers because of its low co-efficient of friction, chemical inertness and ability to withstand high temperatures and extreme temperature variations. In this invention a portion of the plastic is confined between a rigid central shaft spline and a cup rotatable with the shaft so that the plastic cannot flow without two-dimensional or three-dimensional distortion or tearing, both of which are resisted by the plastic.

TL;DR: In this paper, a bidirectional planetary gear transmission has a pressurized fluid actuated friction brake assembly for selectively braking alternately the planetary gear carrier and ring gear to effect rotation of an output shaft in one direction and the opposite direction.
Abstract: The bidirectional planetary gear transmission has a pressurized fluid actuated friction brake assembly for selectively braking alternately the planetary gear carrier and ring gear to effect rotation of an output shaft in one direction and the opposite direction. A locking means is provided to hold the planetary gear carrier or ring against rotation, whichever one is associated with prolonged rotation, without maintaining braking of the pressurized fluid actuated brake assembly. Another feature is that the pressurized fluid actuated friction brake assembly has two brake sets (one coacting with the planetary gear carrier and the other with the ring gear) and a dual piston-cylinder mechanism in which the pistons are connected for conjoined reciprocation so that when one brake set is engaged, the other is automatically disengaged.

Abstract: A device for mixing two or more substances in which each substance is metered by a separate continuous-flow, positive displacement, volumetric gear pump, then forced together in a mixer manifold, then mixed to homogeneity by forcing through rotating ball, roller, or cone bearings. As an added feature of the invention, the mixer has a purge system permitting one-way flow of either solvent materials or washing materials into the mixer manifold, and a clutch assembly which allows the pumps to be disabled and thus non-delivering while the mixer is being purged. Another feature is valving to permit the introduction of catalysts or the like into the mixer manifold.

TL;DR: A flow divider as mentioned in this paper is a casing within which a plurality of gears are rotatably mounted in intermeshing relation, and it is used as a flow collector for flow dividers.
Abstract: A flow divider includes a casing within which a plurality of gears are rotatably mounted in intermeshing relation. The intermeshing gears constitute at least two gear-pump or gearmotor structures. Each gear pump structure has a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet and all of the inlets for a plurality of gear pump structures are connected to a single inlet port. Fluid enters through the single inlet port into a plurality of inlets. From there it is carried by a synchronized rotation of the intermeshing gears toward a plurality of outlets at substantially the same flow rate regardless of the difference in pressure at said outlets. The flow divider also operates as a flow collector.

TL;DR: In this article, a co-axial screw system is used to force thermoplastic granules into the mixing compartment and pressure and temperature, in mixing chamber, is controlled by rate of extrusion.
Abstract: The mixer e.g. Banbury type does not itself induce flow. The material, e.g. thermoplastic granules, are fed at a controlled rate and forced into the mixing compartment e.g. by a co-axial screw system. Pressure, and consequently temperature, in mixing chamber, is controlled by rate of extrusion. Difficulties of flow-rate stability encountered with variable orifice stationary nozzles are overcome using fixed nozzle and intermediates screw or gear-pump driven by e.g. hydraulic motor of variable speed, controlled in accordance with measured mixer output temp.
