TL;DR: In this article, a boat propulsion system interposed between a prime mover and a propeller shaft comprises a hydro-mechanical transmission including a variable displacement hydraulic pump having a movable swash plate and a hydraulic motor fluidly connected to the hydraulic pump.
Abstract: A boat propulsion system interposed between a prime mover and a propeller shaft comprises a hydro-mechanical transmission including a hydrostatic transmission part and a gear transmission part. The hydrostatic transmission part includes a variable displacement hydraulic pump having a movable swash plate and a hydraulic motor fluidly connected to the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump is driven by the output rotary force of the prime mover. The gear transmission part is drivingly interposed between the hydrostatic transmission part and the propeller shaft so that the gear transmission part is driven by the input rotary force of the hydraulic pump with the assistance of the output rotary force of the hydraulic motor. A hydraulic clutch system may be interposed between the gear transmission part of the hydro-mechanical transmission and the propeller shaft so as to select one of opposite output rotary directions of the propeller shaft.

TL;DR: In this paper, a crescent gear pump and pump rotor set with a composite profile was proposed for a CRSG pump with an outer rotor with teeth having a profile formed over the portion adjacent their root to conform to a circular arc.
Abstract: A novel crescent gear pump and pump rotor set for a crescent gear pump. The rotor set includes an outer rotor with teeth having a composite profile formed over the portion adjacent their root to conform to a circular arc and formed over the portion adjacent their tip to conform to a hypocycloid arc. The unique shape allows for increased volumetric capacity of the rotor set, when compared to trochoidal rotor sets of the same size. Further, operating noise is reduced, as are pulsations in the output of the pump when compared to the same pump with a trochoidal rotor set.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a gear pump with a pair of cylindrical gear chambers, and a recirculating flow path is provided to draw fluid from the high pressure fluid port along the sides of the gears, between the bearings and the sides-of-the gears, axially through the bearings from the inner side of the bearings to the outer side of bearings, and through channels formed in the respective adjacent cover plates to direct the fluid to the pair of return bores.
Abstract: A gear pump includes a pump body having a pair of cylindrical gear chambers, and high pressure and low-pressure fluid ports into the chambers. A pair of cover plates enclose the open ends of the pump body. A drive gear on a drive shaft and a driven gear on an arbor shaft are rotatably supported on a pair of bearing assemblies within the gear chambers, with the drive shaft extending through an opening in at least one of the cover plates for rotation of the gears. A recirculating flow path is provided to draw fluid from the high pressure fluid port along the sides of the gears, between the bearings and the sides of the gears, axially through the bearings from the inner side of the bearings to the outer side of the bearings, and through channels formed in the respective adjacent cover plates to direct the fluid to a pair of return bores in the pump body. The return bores are parallel to one another and to the rotational axis of the gears, and tangentially intersect the low-pressure fluid port in elongated, arcuately-extending elliptical openings to direct the fluid into the central region of the intermeshing gear teeth.

TL;DR: In this paper, the I.C. engine lubrication system comprises a gerotor pump set driven by a gear meshed with another gear on the crankshaft, which enables pump diameter to be selected for minimum power absorption.
Abstract: An I.C. engine lubrication system comprises a gerotor pump set driven by a gear meshed with another gear on the crankshaft (FIG. 1). This enables pump diameter to be selected for minimum power absorption as compared with prior art arrangements where the gerotor surrounds the crankshaft, and also simplifies pipework particularly on the delivery side of the pump.

TL;DR: In this paper, a mixing and processing apparatus for plastic melt is equipped with a separately drivable gear pump as a delivery unit, and the gear pump is directly mounted at the outlet end of an extruder.
Abstract: A mixing and processing apparatus for plastic melt is equipped with a separately drivable gear pump as a delivery unit. In order to avoid material deposits between the mixing and processing apparatus and the delivery pump, the gear pump is directly mounted at the outlet end of the mixing and processing apparatus, such as an extruder, so that the plastic melt is directly fed axially into the suction space of the gear pump. Cleaning operations after shutdown or in the case of change of material are eliminated due to this direct transfer without dead space.
