24 Dec 1984TL;DR: In this article, an integrated power drive and power transfer system has a pair of variable displacement hydraulic devices each in a separate hydraulic circuit and each having a drive shaft connected into a summing gear train connected to an output shaft.
Abstract: In many aircraft, there are flight control surfaces positioned by mechanical actuation systems that are driven by hydraulic power drive units. There are also devices for transmitting hydraulic power from one aircraft hydraulic system to another in the event that one of the system's pumps fails. An integration of structure to perform both of these functions in a single unit would result in a reduction in cost and weight as well as increased reliability. The integrated power drive and power transfer system has a pair of variable displacement hydraulic devices each in a separate hydraulic circuit and each having a drive shaft connected into a summing gear train connected to an output shaft. A selectively-operable brake is in the operative connection between the output shaft and the summing gear train and controls either driving of the output shaft with both variable displacement hydraulic devices operating as motors or transfer of power between the hydraulic circuits with one variable displacement hydraulic device operating as a motor and the other as a pump.

TL;DR: In this article, a control gear has an activated piston-cylinder unit, and a pressure, pressure restoration and pressure release is adjusted in the piston driving the pistoncylinder in a working chamber (A) of the hydraulic control cylinder.
Abstract: The control gear has an activated piston-cylinder-unit (7). A pressure, pressure restoration and pressure release is adjusted in the piston driving the piston-cylinder-unit in a working chamber (A) of the hydraulic control cylinder. The working chamber of the hydraulic control cylinder is connected consecutively and simultaneously with mechanical actuators of a coupling (19,23) as well as gear actuator (32-35) of the control gear by hydraulic pipe and intermediary controlled valves. The piston is driven by an electric motor (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a control gear.

TL;DR: In this paper, an internal gear pump for conveying fuel in an internal combustion engine, comprising an internally toothed annular gear (11) and an externally-toothed pinion gear (3), is described.
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal gear pump for conveying fuel in an internal combustion engine, comprising an internally toothed annular gear (11) and an externally toothed pinion gear (3) which cooperates with the annular gear (11) to produce a pump effect. In order to increase the pump capacity at starting speed and to increase the service life of the internal gear pump, the pinion gear (3) is radially movably mounted in an eccentric position with respect to the annular gear (11) on a stump of the bearing (5). A device (17, 18) is provided in order to compensate the radial clearance between the pinion gear (3) and the annular gear (11). The pump is driven by means of a spring-loaded Oldham coupling which adjusts the axial clearance of the inventive pump

TL;DR: The method has been applied to three industrial test cases and is validated by comparing the obtained data with the data coming from the application of state-of-the-art analytical methods.
Abstract: We present an efficient and user-friendly parametric CAD-based design method for the graphical description of positive displacement machines, exploiting commercial parametric CAD software and a tailored interface. An executable module simulates the motion of the machine components, analyzes the machine geometry, and automatically extrapolates the geometrical data from the 3D CAD model, generating data files that can be directly used for following fluid dynamic analyses. The graphical approach supports investigation of the machine performance and exploring optimized design variants. The method has been applied to three industrial test cases: An external gear pump, an axial piston pump, and a gerotor pump. A complete case study focused on the external gear pump is proposed, as well as the results from the other two types are summarized. We validate the CAD-based method by comparing the obtained data with the data coming from the application of state-of-the-art analytical methods.
